| So... I went to the airsoft gi bone yard sale, got a completely working SR-25 for 75 bucks.. Normally retailed at 200, I got it for 75!!!
Anyways, I was looking at gears, at ASGI, until I noticed the "A&K SR-25 sector gear". I wondered to myself, "Wait does this need SR-25 Gears only?" So my question is, are SR-25s upgradable with any kind of gears pistons, and cylinders? Or do they need SR-25 type internals only...? If so which have to be made specifically for SR-25

| If the gear is for the same version gearbox then it should be fine | |

If so which have to be made specifically for SR-25 Yes there are specific differences between a SR 25 Mechbox and a standard V2. For starters the cylinder is somewhat longer than the V2's. I use somewhat loosely. The springs, pistons, and gears will be different because of the difference in cylinder size. The SR25 uses a derived gearbox system from the V2 but its shape is changed so that affects pretty much all of your vital mechanics, because now you may need to put a sector gear further out, change the size of the spur gear. The one thing that does not change is the bevel gear, which allows you to still have the same variety in motors that you have with your standard V2.

| So lonewolf, I can put in any motor that a V2 uses, but I have to stick with SR-25 Pistons, Springs, and gears? Oh my Don't use the Lord's name in vain... Anything else in particular? | |

| Personally I would not because the CA SR25 is not very popular among most of the airsoft community. It was overpriced and had a reliable tenancy to strip a piston every now and then | |

| What if I were to put in a Li-Po battery? Anything I need to put in like a polycarb piston head? Or a specific type of motor? | |

| Perhaps he is thinking about going as a spotter rather than a sniper, Insane Mercc. I could understand the need for a Li-Po then. Also, he may want the added battery life. | |

| The fields I play at ARE HUGE. And not so much I want to make it shoot 600 FPS with a li-po, but more like, I want to downgrade the FPS to about 380 with a .20. I want to add the Li-po, to convince the little ones to get the "Watch your language" out of the field before I really get mad at them cheating...
Really only purpose i bought the SR-25 was because of its longer barrel, I want accuracy even at 100 feet away..

| Your not, i was just saying lithium is Li-Po... Isn't it obvious? Or maybe I misread your question | |

| Yes a Lipo in a SR25 is actually a good way to do it. It increases the response time a lot on the trigger. Just a few things I reccomend doing first. -Check the shim job, install metal bushing/bearings that are the correct diameter -Rewire to a larger gauge (16 AWG) and use dean connectors -Install a MOSFET unit. This will preserve the life of your internals on the LiPo -buy a good lipo charger (MUST) -You MAY need to install a stronger gearset pending on the quality of the gears you already have. Before you actually begin doing these upgrades. I recommend getting in touch with a local airsmith. I would by all means want to work on it...just im distance challenged. Anyways learn how to do what you need to do. If this means practicing your soldering skills with extra wire and extra connectors, go for it. As for finding a quality MOSFET, there is a airsmith in my neck of the woods who deals with lipo upgrades day in-day out (literally) He has made his own mosfet system which is about $30 something + shipping/tax. The reviews are real strong. Airdog Airsoft The online store should be open. Anyways good luck. | |

| Ahhh, the Devil is in the Details, The A&K SR25 is a carbon copy of the CA version of the same gun, to include the Gearbox and all the design flaws. The Gun is completly upgradable, just don´t go getting wrapped around the axel about buying only SR25 gear sets, a little tip, the SR25 Gearsets, Cylinder, Piston, Piston Head are the exact same as those used in the PSG ( should open up your Buying options ). I would reccomend that you go with Lone Wolfs suggestions, they are right on target, if you are going to go LI-PO, don´t forget to install a Monitor, either Tone, LED or LCD, contrary to some, draining LI-PO´s below 60% capacity does damage the Battery. | |

| Okay, so buying a Li-Po and a MOSFET. Thats a yes yes. PSG cylinders, pistons, gears are the same as SR-25 correct? So they should be fully compatible? Or does it have to be Tokyo Mauri Compatible... And so let me get this straight. I should properly shim the gears, How do i check the diameter for the bushings? I'm going to guess ruler? And should I get this reinforced piston for my Li-Po? http://www.airsoftpost.com/product_info.php?products_id=28898 | |

| If you are going to running at 600FPS a re-enforced piston is a must, regardless of battery type, the bushings should be 7mm, measure them with calipers, or compare them to others that you have laying around, When you change out the gears, you will need to reshim, no way around that.
The Gears and Cylinder/Piston assembly are all from the PSG,.... TM, PDI, LayLax , A&K and so on, their parts will all work, just don´t go mixing them.

| Okay, Yeah i'm not going to run it at 600FPS. Around 380 with .25s - Quote :

| psh 380 with .25s. A RESONABLE target FPS for .25's would be 450. You would have a better DMR and not just a ridiculously heavy/long M4. | |

| True, but intentionally, I didn't want to play DM. I just wanted a longer barrel gun then my m4. Truth be told, I would have gotten the M16, but this had a longer barrel, and worked completely. | |
