How should I go about maintenance and cleaning on my Kart M14 JAE? Also, is it upgradeable, and if so, what should I upgrade?

Maintenance is just what you do with your normal AEG. Clean the barrel, use the right bb's, and new battery every year or so. You should be fine.
Yes it is upgradeable, and you should upgrade according to the goals of what your gun to achieve. Give me that much and I can help you find parts.

I want to extend my range and a higher ROF. Also, a problem with my M14 is my selector switch seems kind of lose and when I'm firing at semi, it will jam or stop; I have to switch to auto then back to semi for it to work again.

you should tighten the selector switch then. that should help a bit

Sounds like a issue with the yaw spring.

The selector problem happens with my AK too. Not worried about it though, it still works fine.
