Disrespectful?

I have got this hat ......Exactly like this and I want to know if the emblem worn in public would be Disrespectful?

I honestly think it would depend on who you talked to. Allot of the older people would probably have a problem with it because we fought communism for 50 years.

Besides that the main reason I wouldn't wear it is because it was a Red Army symbol(the badge atleast). Sense you didn't go through the training to earn the badge, I wouldn't wear it. I know this is weird, but would you wear a US Army Beret with flash patch or USMC EGA on a hat around town? Hopefully not...

Yeah its actually my dad who has a problem with it.....

I can see where some people might consider it disrespectful but personally i wouldn't think much of it. If anything it's a piece of world history and as long as you're not standing on a street corner preaching Marxism it should be ok. It's not something i've ever heard of being disrespectful.

My Dad thinks its disrespectful Because....we are in a conflict in the East where our troops are being killed.....Ive already told him Russians have nothing to do with it(except for invading Afganistan and setting off the chain of events that caused 9/11).....

That wasn't Russia, that was the USSR. . You have to understand that the USSR was our most feared and hated enemy. It would be like if your son wore a hat that was the symbol of Al Quida in a few years. Sure the war may be over but the symbol still means something to allot of people. I would just take off the badge if I were you... Or buy a different hat!

Sorry....I meant the USSR....at the moment there is a ban on the emblem but he lets me wear the hat.....Im kinda famous now for having a hat so outragous!

HAHAHAHA Everyone at my school has those dumb "Trapper" hats that just adds to the Minnesota sterotype of us being all Canadian.....

I say wear it. Who cares, you can't get arrested for it, so it's nothing wrong.

People wear hats with pot leaves on them, so why does it matter?

I've seen hats and clothes with:
- Pot & drug themes
- "Genitals"
- Middle fingers
- Cuss words and other insults
- Racism
- Sexism

So a hat with a hammer and sickle and star shouldn't be any different, if not less looked down upon.

Eh, wear it, but if a former service member or active duty service member asks you to take it off, take it off.

Might not want to wear it to like public sporting events or something, because yeah it might offend a certain selection of people.

But wearing it to school or around wherever (and of course in your house) would be fine.

Drugs on a hat are one thing, but does that kill "innocent" soldiers? That symbol represents Communism, communism sparked the Korean War, the Vietnam war and many wars today!
And just because it's against the law doesn't make it wrong, it makes it illegal. So if something is illegal, it's not wrong? I'm sorry to say this and sound like a bi*tch, but thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard!

I think I agree with creed. It would be good for a collector item, though.

We actually never fought the USSR, in fact we fought with them during WWII against Germany. We had our disagreements on ideals and some tension moments from being the two most powerful countries on the planet but we never came to actual fighting on a battlefield.

My friend Karl has one in black and wears it around town all the time. No problems here.
