I am "Watch your language" glad their District decided the school was full of bullshit. That's just ridiculous. This makes me want to go buy a bunch of American Flag shirts....

Mhm..From what ive seen I tend to agree with you, but I don't think it's the whole story.

I tend to think there was probably some other issues involved.

TBH..Does anyone seriously think they were just wearing the shirts for patriotism? I think not..And I doubt if their intent was innocent.

As a side note..I hate people who wear shirts or bikinis or w/e looking like the nations flag...it's disrespectful. I feel the same when I see that as when I see someone burning the flag or not standing for the pledge.

I think it's stupid. You're in AMERICA, not Mexico, people shouldn't have to sacrifice for another country's holiday.

On the Fourth of July, who cares if a Mexican-American is wearing a shirt that says "Mexican Pride" on it? I know I wouldn't care at all, and if he got sent home for wearing it I would protest too.

Yeah i really doubt they were just "wearing" the shirts, they were at least trying to make a statement. Still though this is America not Mexico. The only foreign holiday i take an active part in is St. Patrick's Day, and hey everyone is Irish on that day.

i think it is absolutely ridiculous if they have so much pride of their mexican heritage, then they can go back to mexico. this is america.

You don't see the Irish complaining when somebody wears an American Flag shirt on St. Patrick's Day. All I'm going to say at the moment.

Im 99% sure they were looking for conflict by wearing them. Besides, most Mexicans are legal citizens/residents, most likly the students were trying to make a statement..somthing along the lines of go back to Mexico. Ergo could be considered racicst

Most likly it went like this..."This is America!, go back were you came from."

Do you tell an African American to go back to africa when thier celebrating thier herritiage?..not so much.

And as for St. Patty's? Yeah thats an American holiday not an Irish one (Atleast the version your talking about) It's pretty much turned into somthing like Christmas and Easter in the US.

And agian like I said the news agencys are useless since they don't give the whole story, why no interview with the princapal or those that complained.

And like Wolf said above, it's only celebrated in a very small part of Mexico, sort of a remember the Alamo(sic) thing, only in America is it celebrated as is....therfore it's American

im not saying just because its a mexican holiday they should go back to mexico. im saying if they are going to be anal of someone wearing an american flag tee shirt on a "mexican" holiday then they should go back. is it offensive for all the american flags to be flying above schools, private homes, federal institutes, and maybe hung up in those person's own homes who criticized against it at school? it is just plain ignorant. maybe we should ask all of the u.s. to take down the u.s. flag just because its a "mexican" holiday or a "jewish" holiday etc..... the whole thing is ridiculous.
whether or not they intended to start a conflict, the fact is if anyone would get mad about someone wearing an american flag well they can just go F*%& themselves. Its not a big deal, its morally correct to wear the flag of your country every day any time, regardless of other cultures/countries holidays.

I understand where you're coming from, Zane. Yeah, the kids were probably trying to start something, but the fact still remains that this whole thing went down. If you can't wear an American flag shirt because it my offend someone, then we are losing the freedoms we were given through the Bill of Rights IMHO.

Cinco de Mayo was a holiday made up so restraunts could make a killing selling booze. This is complete and utter bull-sh1t that went viral and now our nation is going stark raving mad over this idiotic controversy. If a fight we're to happen...if wearing a american flag on school grounds led to violence, then shouldn't we remove the ones who would attack instead of the ones displaying their patriotism.

O yeah I agree with you that they should be able to wear it (..altho I do think it's disrespectfull to turn your nations flag into clothing..)

But I find it REALY hard to believe that they were supended for just wearing it...I can almost be 99.9% sure they were trying to start somthing. Heck, I was in JROTC for 4 years..the avarage person it attracts isn't the..erm most respectfull? So ive seen some of the stuff people try to pull...and this sounds remarkably simular to somthing some of my cadets tried before I kicked thier asses.

But heres the thing...either the princapal was a idiot..or they tried somthing. Since I haven't heard anything on non prof news sources either way, I tend to think it got blown out of proportion since they generaly give all pertenant info, and if it's omited completly I think this was just some BS story blown outof proportion to get attention.

Yeah if they said sh*t about them being Mexican then it's wrong.

But I still hold my position of: It's AMERICA, we're AMERICAN.
