PostSubject: Flies for Fishing?   Flies for Fishing? Icon_minitimeSun Jun 06, 2010 3:16 pm

Does anybody know some good flies to use for fishing? I found my fly tying kit and I lost my lucky fly, so I need to retie a few like that but other then that any good ideas? I am just beginning again on fly tying and don't have many materials but I have every color thread you can imagine.

I know you can always see whats flying around the lakes and stuff but I want flies that work pretty much all around something that could get the fishes attention and make it want to hit it.

I would like if you post, post pictures videos websites whatever so I can see what your talking about so I can replicate it and tie it myself.

Pretty much any dry fly can be used at just about any locations, and you should always keep a wide variety of dry and wet flies in your fly box.

If I had to, I would say the caddis is the most commonly used dry fly, or at least it is for me anyway.

As for tying it yourself, just buy 1 of all the flies you like using, then use those as a base to replicate.

Okay good idea I need to find a good fishing store though do you know any that have a wide selection of flies?

I know they have independent fly shops but I haven't seen any here in Cheyenne. Gander Mt. I ehh not my favorite place most are more geared towards hunting instead of fishing. I enjoy sportsman warehouse. What about the BassPro shop? do they have a good fly fishing section?

Heres a link to a forum you could find extremly helpfull.

As for the best fly? it would defend on your location and what hatchs are going on..but one good all around fly is the wooly bugger.
