| Subject: OP at the Plaza Game Report Mon Jun 21, 2010 9:51 am | |
| Well guys, I went to OP: Urban Assault on Saturday night, and it ran from 2000 to 0400. We had nearly 50 people there at one point, and 40 people on the field during one game. We had two teams, Pink team and No Bands. I was on No Bands. Here's part of the OP! Attack & Defend, Pinks DefendingI was in command of a fireteam on this game. It consisted of two guys with M4s and a guy with an M60 that had a tracer unit (I nearly wet myself when I saw it). Pink team was supposed to defend the central courtyard, and obviously, No Bands were supposed to attack it. At the game's start, we decided to try to move up stealthily in the first 90 seconds, then our Platoon Leader would blow a whistle, signaling for us to begin our assault. My squad went around to the back parking lot and split into fireteams. One fireteam, which I will refer to as Fireteam Two moved alongside the building so they could be in position to enter the courtyard. I took my fireteam to the farside of the parking lot, where there were plenty of shadows to hide in. I put one of my riflemen in position to pin down the Pinks in the courtyard and assist Fireteam Two's entry. I took my other rifleman and my gunner with me to sneak over to the north side of the Plaza so we could hit the Pinks from their open flank. We stopped at a corner where we could look up the eastern hallway into the central courtyard. The hallway had pillars on the left side. We got in a stack and waited until our Platoon Leader blew the whistle. After about ten seconds, he blew the whistle. Immediately, you heard AEGs going off and gas pistols popping. I moved up behind the pillars with my fireteam, moving by bounds until we were up nearly to the courtyard, just like the last OP. A frag went off, and we hit the courtyard hard. My gunner suppressed anything that was pink and my rifleman moved with me to clear the plaza towards the back parking lot (if that makes sense). I began taking fire from a pillar, so I ducked behind a low wall. I was about to return fire when I felt a bb hit me in the wrist. I yelled "nice hit" and walked out. We ended up winning easily. Pistols vs. AEGsOn this game, Pink team was the Pistol team. Pistol team also had people with sniper rifles and shotguns. I, of course, was on the AEG team, no band. Pink team started out on the north side of the Plaza and No Band started out on the South. This time, I had a guy with a M4 named Matt and the M60 gunner following me. When the game started, we ran around to the back parking lot, where we would have the upper hand. We moved out into the parking lot so we could get angles on a few Pinks who were behind some dumpsters. The dumpsters were surrounded by six foot tall walls on one side, but had four foot walls on the other two sides. Matt shot on either side of the dumpsters while the gunner suppressed them on the top. I was running back and forth between a fireteam that was going to flank the Pinks behind the dumpsters. I told them that we would suppress the Pinks from our position and they should try to come around the rear of the Pinks and neutralize them. I went back to my guys and began suppressing the dumpsters. There was a guy on the other fireteam that had some frags, so he ran up and tossed one behind each of the dumpsters. They, of course, got the Pinks out. While the other fireteam continued on to the north, I took my guys back to our south because I was hearing increased firing from our rear. Turns out, the Pinks had taken the souther courtyard and were about to attack us when we showed up. There were two Pinks in the southern courtyard, one we called Belfon's Kid and another named Brian. Belfon's Kid had two M93Rs and knew how to use them. Brian had a WE Dragon and was ruthless, and is known throughout our group as "the one with no safety" because he'll shoot you anytime, anywhere, for any reason, haha. I moved in with Matt while the gunner shot into the courtyard to try to suppress Belfon's Kid. Belfon's Kid was behind a pillar on the north side of the courtyard and Brian was behind a pillar on the south side of the courtyard. Matt and I went after Brian while our gunner kept Belfon's Kid busy. After Belfon's Kid went through two more mags, his replicas jammed and he had to call out. When he did, I said "Brian, it's just you, me, Matt, and an M60. I suggest you surrender!" There was no reply. I stuck my head out and bb went centimeters past my head. Our gunner ran into the courtyard on my side, and when he reached Matt and I, we all moved forward, leapfrogging the pillars. There were some bushes in the little area between the sides of the courtyard, so we all started shooting into the bushes. All the sudden, a gas pistol popped and our gunner called out. Matt and I hid behind another pillar before moving some more. We moved to an area where two sidewalks met. Matt covered me while I moved across. I took one step, then two, then three, and then... I hear "BANG!" come from nowhere. I looked around to see where it had come from, then called my hit and walked out. The game ended with us barely beating the Pinks. Brian practically beat us by himself, haha. Protect the VIPThis game, my team had to protect the VIP, who was Matt. The VIP only had a rubber knife I had lent him. The Pinks, of course, were trying to kill the VIP. My team started out on the South side. We began trying to move Matt to the back parking lot so we could hide him in a trashcan (don't ask why we chose that, haha). We got nearly to the end of the southern courtyard before our pointmen started calling out. I was closest to Matt, so I put him up behind a wall and started try to find contacts in the parking lot. A sniper team was well hidden out there and started popping shots at us, so I got my stupid ass back behind cover. Half of our team was trying to defend our eastern flank, and they were in easy view of the sniper team. They started getting hit, so some of them moved over against the wall with Matt and I. We started getting shot at from our eastern side, our rear. We were totally screwed on this one. We had to try one last thing, so I got Matt next to me and got another guy, Chaka, on the other side of Matt. We ran out from behind the wall and just started booking it towards a dumpster, with Chaka tossing frags as we went. We somehow managed to make it to another low wall. I had one of those stupid little smoke grenades in my utility pouch, so I lit the smoke and threw it over the wall to keep the snipers off us. It started smoking, and Chaka, Matt, and I started running towards the north end of the Plaza. We weren't recieving as much fire, but it was still enough to keep us at a sprint. We turned a corner to the northern courtyard and were greeted by four guys with M4s only five feet in front of us. Chaka and I froze in our tracks, but Matt decided to be a funny guy and threw his rubber knife at one of the Pinks, knife killing him, haha. They then bang killed us, and the game was over. All in all, it was a great game. I'll be going to the next one this coming Saturday! Some of my team will be there as well, so here's to the future of Lobo Two-Six! Cheers, guys! | |

| @lonesniper When I'd lean around the wall to fire, the snipers would try to pop us. Is that what you meant or...?
@Crowbar DANGIT!!! It completely slipped my mind. Hopefully he'll be there next weekend so I can try to recruit him then. | |

| No, you're correct. There were lights in the Plaza and the courtyards, so we were lit up like a Dutch Brothel. The sniper teams were set up in the shadows across the back parking lot, so you'd have to search for them with your weapons light. They were in black cammies, so you couldn't see them. | |
