| The Army's special forces are the US Army Special Forces. That's their name. Also known as "Green Berets". The Delta Force is counter-terrorist. Rangers are pretty much specially trained members of the Army. | |

Rangers, SF, Delta, are all special forces but only one is Special Forces ( The Green Berets ).
Rangers are a quick strike force designed and trained to open the door for follow on forces, Strike Hard, Strike Fast, Strike First ! Some of thier sub missions are Intel Gathering, Security, Specific Target Demolition..........
SF, Special Forces, ( The Breen Berets ), are Teachers, Self Reliant, Self Supporting, Self Sufficient, Thier mission is to go into any specific area, use and train local forces to operate within the specific Special Forces mission, it is not uncommon for 1 Team to have 300-500 locals operating under thier control. The `` Beret ´´ is part of the uniform, all students, candidates wear it during thier training, but it does not make them SF, you spot a Green Beenie when they are Flashed and Tabbed.
Delta is the Military Scapel, memebers assigned to SF-OD are `` Tools ´´ that are not only mission commited, but are dedicated to everything, without question, and willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish the mission or what thier Government requires of them. Tho Ant-Terrorism is part of thier mission, they are not restricted to just this field of operation, Delta operates everyday throughout the world, not only in American Friendly areas but in Hostile as well, unless openly engaged in CA thier primary mission is Intel Gathering, Infiltration, supporting the Alphabet Companies. Accountable to the JCS and Prez. ( tidbit of SF-OD trivia, Nobody ever dies while working as an Operator in Delta, they all have unfortunate training accidents :-) )

Haha, gives the impression that Delta Operators are near invincible in combat! I know for a fact that six Operators were killed in the line of duty during the attack on Mogadishu, Somalia. Remember the dudes wearing the black hockey-helmet looking headgear in the movie Black Hawk Down? They were Delta. D-boys (as some call them) are most of the time disguised as civies for intel gathering (making them the only military branch that doesn't require the traditional shaved head). They're the guys who end wars before they start. During the early days of Delta, some even doubted thier very existence.

Not a military branch...they belong to the Army. I'd word it as "the only US Military force"

The official explanation for the death of an Operator is a `` Training Accident ´´, don´´t forgrt SF, SF-OD is also in Operation during times of `` Peace ´´, each of which participate in more real world operations per year than any other branch or thier special forces units, to include the Seals. [quote] I know for a fact that six Operators were killed in the line of duty during the attack on Mogadishu, Somalia[quote] Double check your Facts, there were only 2, the others where either candidates, or members of SOAR, not SF-OD operators, but a special support element.

| They are special in that they are the best aviators the army has to offer, not just flying thier birds, but forcing the birds to perform to and above thier maximum potential, not just rotary wing, but fixed as well.
Try to imagine an OH-1 doing a high speed gun run into a school gym, right down the hallway, taking out the far hoop, kick turning ( Pedal Turn ), at half court and flying right out the way they came in, and never stopping or comming to a hover.
It´´s hard to really put it into words, I guess the best comparison would be to call them the CA version of the Blue Angels.

| They are all under the jurisdiction of Special Operations COMmand however guys.
Delta Force utilizes the army's materials but its a joint service operation.
The CIA utilizes all of militarys special operations groups at any given time.
So these special operations are more joint service oriented than singularly

Truer words have never been spoken. Read their book "Night Stalkers", couldn't pu it down and am considering reading it again. They've done some some seriously unbelievable stuff, Slob isn't kidding. My jaw dropped several times throughout that book. But I understand now, thanks slob. My confusion was that they were created AFTER Delta as transportation FOR Delta, soo..yeah I figured they were in the bandwagon as well.
