I picked up a Logitech Attack 3 for like $18 and I mess around with A-10s and F-35s in Arma 2. I want to buy a nice simulator though. Point me in the right direction eh?

Yeah FSX is a good one I picked it up a while ago when it was on sale at Best Buy. Pretty cool.

A tiny fraction of the pictures I took during today's session with alexkmmll. Just edited the ones that were easiest during the 5 minutes I had to do so Very Happy
Enjoy. Maybe you'll come fly with us some time? Next time I'm definitely going to bump my graphics settings up so I don't get pixelation.

First two and last one are my absolute favorites.

Alright I gotta buy this haha. I had no clue there was the ability for internetworking (if you could call it that?)

As cool as it looks, I hope it runs a little better on my PC. The pics portray it as lacking in the detail department - fuzzy looking tarmac in #4, rigid object outlines...

How is the visibility in-game? Is there just a cloud layer above a certain altitude?

That would be because we are using low resolution settings. Our computers are just too full xD. But you, with a better graphics card, can turn up the graphics. That game has some of the best graphics in the simulator industry. Its very very good quality.
As an example of Sound, Graphics, and Piloting quality, please, and Im mean PLEASE, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VivFXJPeNSs&feature=related
Oh and the fuzzyness is from Durkee editing 'em. IDK what he does, but he does it anyways haha

EDIT- Soon to come: Photos of me performing in my FA-18 (Possibly with a Blue Angels Paint Scheme)

Ya I had my graphics down at almost the lowest possible...so that's the culprit on the fuzziness.
High graphics + high intensity flying + taking screenshots = my computer crashes.

The fuzziness was from my lame excuse for editing. Expect higher quality pictures after Alex and I do another few shoots.

Here's vids in-world with higher settings...mind you, on a gaming computer (unlike my own):
----FIRST ONE IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE, completely captures the fun and overall experience of flying in FSX.

Wow, ok cool. Watching a couple other of Cessna154's videos makes me really want to get it. He has a one of a P-47 flying over a town/small city. Every time I hear the drone of a prop engine outside and look up to see a small plane buzzing around the skies overhead.... just something I've always wanted to do.

Heheh it definitely is a cool feeling. FSX is an all around great simulator.

For the casual flier...just island hopping in the gulf...or the hard-core simmer running full ATC, radio comms, Instrument Flight Rules, and doing over-night trans-continental flights...it's just a great, adaptable software. There is also a MASSSIVE add-on development community...so there is virtually no airport, aircraft, or utility that you can't utilize in FSX that you'd find in the "real world". But it is a simulator...and no sim is perfect. FSX does have it's flaws...but nothing that takes away from you enjoying the virtual world.

High-detail structures and terrafor are limited without add-ons...but again, this is a flight simulator...a role it fills pretty \"Watch your language\" well.

There is also a small, but growing, aerobatic/demo community, as the videos show. That's where you'll find Kimmell and I Very Happy

LOL yikes ya..that's like...Sega quality graphics hahahah. Grab yourself FSX...won't let you down (plus it's only like $20).
Hoping to have a group flight this weekend if anyone wants to tag along. Going to be an island hopping trip.

Flight plan:
SABA->TNCM->SABA
TNCM Alt: 13
TNCM Hdg: 028*
TNCM Dist: 24nm*
*from SABA

Upon landing at TNCM, we normally hang out at that airport for a bit...gas up, maybe do some aerobatics and just fool around before heading back to TNCM.
TNCM is the worlds shortest operational commercial runway...at just 1300, so this is for LIGHT AIRCRAFT ONLY. It's a tricky glide slope, so practice up on your unpowered landings.

Note: LIGHT PROP AIRCRAFT ONLY. Anything else and you wont be able to operate at SABA, as it is an EXTREMELY short runway. Full breaks, dead engine, you need to stop as soon as you touch down.

Beautiful route over the ocean with an amazing view of St. Martin island on TNCM approach.

I don't really get the whole online thing. If you crash, what happens? Respawn? Booted out? And is it based on servers? Oh, and is there a text chat feature? No tengo un microfono

Hoping to get the game soon. Stupid Steam doesn't offer it. Hopefully I can do alright without knowing all the technical jabber >.<

Lol ya its a 32GB game. You'd probably crash steam trying to download it xD

As for when you crash in online, you just start up about 100 ft. in the air above where you crashed. So you never actually die. Its actually really nice haha.

By the way, IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON PURCHASING FLIGHT SIMULATOR X, ORDER FLIGHT SIMULATOR X: GOLD EDITION!

You can choose crash/stress realism levels in your user settings. Typically, players choose to disable crash/damage...but you can enable damage, which results from a crash or over-stressing of the airframe (next time you try and barrel roll that 747, you may come out of it with one less wing). When you crash with damage enabled, if the computer calculates it to have "totaled" the airframe, it will send you back to the session lobby where you can re-enter the session.

The online bit is server based...all operated and maintained by Microsoft. You key in and can create your own multiplayer sessions from there.

Text and voice chat are both standard, though voice is preferred as it will allow you to communicate with in-world air traffic control (player-run).

I just got done with a mind numbing island hop.
I started at St. Maartin.
I then proceeded to SAGA,
Another airport that I can't remember,
And another airport I can't remember,
Then back to St. Maartin.
I did it all in a Grand Caravan. The whole thing took 2+ hours. Dang, that was fun haha

So can you make a server where it's just a few people messing around, all the way up to a full blown network with radio comms etc?

Pretty much. You can play online with as many as 2 people, to 100 (Although you'd lag so bad it wouldnt be funny). Im hoping that we can get some guys together and go island hopping as a group. Tons of fun.

Yeah I used to play it before the Accelerated Pack came out...and I was primarily an ATC because my computer couldn't handle the graphics. Back then, on any given night you could enter a room with 50+ other aircraft. Now the average room is 5-15, though there are some very popular servers that host 50+ on a daily basis. Most servers will mark themselves as either "Free Flight" or "ATC"...free flight being just goofing around, no radio comms, kinda just dicking around...ATC being operating under "real life" flight rules with full comms, air traffic controllers active, etc...

It really depends on what you're in the mood for Very Happy
