I am looking for a battery for my stock cyma ak74u and I want a high rate of fire and longevity, and I was wondering if I could put a matrix 11.1v battery in it without damaging anything. The description at evike makes me think it would be okay because of some voltage reduction on full auto.

I'm not currently sure about what battery to recommend (due to: I don't know the physical size capabilities of your gun), but I wouldn't recommend putting an 11.1v battery into any stock gun, especially a CYMA - I would think the gearbox wouldn't be reinforced enough for that kind of voltage. I could be wrong, but the highest I'd go with a stock gun would be 9.6v.

I agree with admin, a high voltage battery isn't the best for you right now...a 9.6v. could be.

What capacity do you want for your battery: 1400-3000 maH?

around 1400 to 1600 mah. What kind of ROF would i get with a 9.6 volt battery.

Well, with a 9.6v in my Thompson, I saw over a 300 RPM increase. A 9.6v will deffinately make you grin the first time you try it.

I'd follow M14s lead here and shoot for a 9.6v. Your gun should be able to handle it and if you're shooting for a smaller sized battery like a 1600MAH that'll actually fit in your gun (not in an external pack) then go for it. Remember, the more voltage the less playing time you'll get for the same amount of MAH. So your ROF will increase moving from an 8.4v to a 9.6v, but the duration of the battery's effective lifespan will decrease (not a huge deal though, to me anyway). Also, don't forget that your ROF will increase substantially which could be troublesome if you typically play with mid-caps and you're a spray-n-pray type. I've even thought of "downgrading" from my 9.6v to an 8.4v for events just to keep from performing mag changes every 3 minutes. That's just something to consider though.

Stay away from the 11.1V batteries, they are li-po and unless you have a li-po ready gun or you upgraded a bunch of parts in it you are going to break many things in your mechbox.

I'm going to agree with everyone above, go with a 9.6 or even an 8.4. You will get more longectivity out of the 8.4 then the 9.6 but(obviously)you will loose some ROF. I see that you live in MI so you should look into a NiCd. I think the CYMA AK needs a stock battery(am I right?), I have personally used the same battery cells in my M4 for a year and 1/2 with absolutely no problems(I know its a NiMh) : http://www.airsoftsmith.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=50

There is always the Crane battery's. I don't know about the CYMA version but I know on the TM you can take the little tube out and have room to fit the C cells.: http://www.airsoftsmith.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=548
