sony vegas issue

everytime I try to save my work it pops up: "read only or invalid" how can I fix this?

It is a error with how you save it. Uncheck "Save as read only" OR render the project in a different format.

when I click on new and it brings up the menu I can't click a box anywhere

No its when you go to File > Save As

I can't get to File save as, I can't edit anything it wont let me without saving it before hand
