New to Airsoft xD

Hi my name is Tyler and im from south amboy, NJ and i am new to airsoft xD
My Friend from penn state got me into it so i gave it a try (even though i was bad). i looked up most stuff up about airsoft and i was shocked on how cheap everything is xD To bad i don't got any money =( but anyway im still saving up for just a pistol maybe more if i get money xD so yeah im extermly new to this and if anybody can help out on the money problems plz post xD

Welcome to the forum Tyler. You came to the right place to learn more about the sport. What kind of pistol are looking into buying? Would you like us to recommend some? Have you thought about purchasing a rifle?

well im not that much of a gun guy so i wouldnt know wat would be good xD but yes i have thought about buying a rifle xD

Nothing from hobby tron trust me and 120 fps is practically falling out of the barrel , CO2 or green gas is the way to go with a sidearm such as a pistol . 350 fps is trhe least you should have for a pistol side arm , once you get flamiliar with shooting a pistol try shooting with you not dominent hand . Once you can do this try dual wielding pistols . As for a rifle I , what are you looking for , sniper rifle , assault rifle , shotgun , or old replica . Any questions I am here to help .

Hmmm... Well. Where do I begin. I guess I could first give you a piece of advice and tell you not to purchase through Hobbytron. It's nothing personal against them, they just typically carry pretty crappy guns and sometimes overprice them.

My next piece of advice would be this:
Everyone starts airsoft off somewhere. Some start off buying top-of-the-line guns from companies like Tokyo Marui or Classic Army. Others won't be willing to invest that much $$ into it at first, but still want a great gun that'll last them forever - so they'll typically go with Echo 1 or JG. Then you have those who are young and brand new to the game who aren't ready or able to spend a decent amount of $$ on a good gun. I assume this is your situation.

My brutal honesty:
The gun you linked to costs $4.50. We're talking an extremely cheap gun that's only worth would be running around your house plinking away at cans or little targets. This gun is spring powered, meaning you have to cock it every single time you want to take a shot. It's also 100% plastic which means it'll break soon after buying it. Again, being brutally honest, if you're wanting to be taken seriously on any airsoft field or any airsoft forum, you're going to need a better gun than this. Expect to pay $90+ on a gun, far more than this for a very decent setup. If you're just looking to start airsoft and aren't willing to invest the money, then I'd say go to a local sporting goods store or Wal-mart and at least purchase one of the shotguns/pistols there. They're still very, very cheap, but at least will last you longer than this gun.

See if you can talk your parents into purchasing one of these guns for you. Maybe split the cost with you or give you jobs that'll help pay for the higher price. Either way, you get what you pay for. If you pay $5 for a gun, you're going to get a pretty big waste of money. I'd take that $5 and either put it towards saving up for an Echo 1 or maybe a sandwich while you think over how serious you are about joining airsoft

There are many other good ones, these are just a few of my favorites.

You should have some sort of orange at the end of your guns if you're going to be transporting your guns to a field. This helps just in case someone (like a cop or neighbor) were to see them - better safe than sorry. However, most people you'll come across at fields/events will have a way to remove the orange tip (if they even have one at all) during actual gameplay. It kind of takes away from the realism when people's guns have orange tips. I will sometimes just put orange tape at the end of my guns, then take off the tape when I get to the field.

You'll definitely be limited. If you can, save up the money for a better gun. If you can't wait that long then maybe invest in a Galaxy Mp5K. You can pick one up for $90 at Airsplat.com. Other than that, you're very limited...

yeah i don't think im ever gonna play airsoft =( because of many reasons

1- i have nowhere to shoot
2- my mom wont drive me anywhere
3- i can't walk around town with it unless i have some1 with me x(
4- can't take a bus x(
5- no one else in my town will probaly never play it

unless somebody can tell me where i can go and how far and i will see if i can convince my mom. I live in South Amboy, NJ so yeah there are like no spots x(

Do you have a backyard? Or woods behind your house?? Those work just fine, however backyard battles aren't the greatest

And neighborhood battles are completely stupid...

If your really low on cash its called walmart or you sportings good store, you can find cheap starter guns

Ive never heard of south Amboy but i can tell you that if you live in the middle of nowhere you usually are in luck. I only know of one airsoft/paintball field in the general vicinity of you, theres a place called cousins paintball in NY state(I think its on the south side of the state). If your friends like and FPS games usually they will enjoy airsoft.

ok i have a small yard on a HIGHWAY xD .i got a big drive way but my mom said the people on the highway will report me because i can only shoot where the cars get on the highway and its a apartment so my nieghboors will get mad if i shoot thier way xD the garage is down the hill and i don't own it x( the land lord does xD. There are woods by my house but i heard that gangs hang out down there xD so yeah im screwed xD unless i move to a new house xD but thanks for the options xD

Well just to make sure go down and see if gangs actually hang out there. Beleive me when I say the following sentence because I know what im talking about with this kinda stuff.

Treat gangs like junkyard dogs, you don't mess with them then they wont mess with you. If they do try to mess with you just walk away, or don't respond to their taunts.

oh ye if they do hang out down there don't bring your airsoft gun with you

yeah i still can't convince my mom because she doesnt want me to buy a gun that im not gonna use xD i think im gonna have to wait till i move ='(

ok i was thinking of going to that forest i was talking about but im not sure if i should xD because the cops here are VERY strict so i don't want my mom to get me out of jail xD but this is all after i order my gun xD

A. greater chance of being reported.
B. limited to backyards...

No, it is way better to find a place other than your neighborhood. If your in the city, look for a building...

I have to agree with Lone Wolf - neighborhood battles are a very bad idea. You're not even supposed to have airsoft rifles out in public where anyone who's not involved can see them. It can
A) get you in big trouble with local law enforcement
B) get you shot by local law enforcement
C) contribute to getting airsoft further looked down upon by the public and possibly banned in your area
D) think if you shoot out a window, hit a car, or accidentally hit a bystander - not good for anyone

People will get nervous seeing kids running around with guns that look like the real deal - even if they have an orange tip. Besides, so many criminals now purposely put orange tips on their real guns hoping no-one will take them seriously. This means cops trust NO-ONE now. Just something to think about. This is why so many other forums don't even let you mention the very thought of "backyard-airsofting."

well neighborhood batles, backyard airsofting is different because your airsofting on your own private property, technically going out to a plot of land you own is still considered backyard airsofting, just your the fortunate one with a very big backyard.

I realize all of those reasons, and would hate to contribute to giving airsoft a bad name, which is why my home-made airsoft field is way back in the woods behind my house, away from everything.....Look, I hate backyard airsoft as much as the next guy, but it isn't like I have a choice.
