| So for Literature I have to find books with the same genre and read them. I was planning on doing Point of Impact (the book Shooter is based on) and a Carlos Hathcock autobiography. But was wondering if anyone know any other war/sniper books. | |

| Flags of our Fathers - James Bradley - Non-Fiction - About the soldiers that raised the American Flag on Iwo Jima in WWII. Tells about their lives before and after the flag raising as well as the war on Iwo Jima.
Flyboys - James Bradley - Non-Fiction - About 8 Fighter Pilots in WWII that were shot down in the Pacific near Chichi Jima and were captured. Tells about their lives, what they went through, and the Pacific war itself.
The Journal of Patrick Seamus Flaherty - Non-Fiction - My Name is America Series - The juornal of Patrick Seamus, a soldier in Vietnam. Truly moving what he had to go through.
Fallen Angels - Walter Dean Myers - Fiction - About 5 soldiers in Vietnam and how they experienced the war. Though fiction it is very realistic and not far fetched at all.
I can give you more info on them if you want!

| "Dead Center", amazing book by Ed Kugler. Its a story about a USMC sniper who did a single tour of 2 ears in 'Nam. He was in 'Nam from 66-68. Not necessarily focusing on the actual sniping aspect, but its more about the hardships of a grunt...
"Stalk and Shoot" is another OK book about sniping. This book is more about the history of sniping rather than the actual techniques or stories of modern snipers in combat. Its not a great book, but if you are new to the concept of sniping then I would look into it.
Then there is my favorite book of all time!
"The Assassination Business", forget the author but its a really interesting book about the history and evolution of assassination. Not necessarily dealing with snipers but it touches on them briefly. Its also comments about some really touchy subjects that are still disputed today(such as the assassination of JFK). It traces the history of assassination all the way back to the biblcal age.
Well thats all I got now, I know I have some good books around here. I even have some really good Si-Fi books lying around if anyone's interested.

| Jarhead by Anthony Swofford. about a Marine in an STA (Search/Target Acquisiton) platoon during Operation Desert Storm. Also a good movie.
Band of Brothers by I don't Remember Who. about the 101 Screaming Eagles during WWII.
USMC/Army CounterInsurgency Warfare Field Manual. the title explains it all
All Quiet On the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque. a story about a German soldier fighting in the trenches of World War One. one of the best books i've ever read.
Also, look for field accounts. my local library has a huge manila folder of battlefield reports. not quite sure why, but it does.
