| Yep, there's a pet peeve! Kneeling position! Jesus, that position sucks Those rifles do hurt though. I once got hit in the arm with one by my Platoon Commander (he was the Armed Team Alpha Commander) when I wasn't doing push ups fast enough. Ow... (rubs arm) | |

Personally, I'm divided on the military unit patches. I think it's fine if you're reenacting a certain unit or dedicating your loadout to that unit or something (My US Marine 2003 is dedicated to 3/1 Marines, I MEF), but I also think that if you wear the patch/rank/whatever because "it looks sick awesome" then you've earned a ticket for one free "Watch your language" slap

Looks like itĀ“s going to be a race to which MOD lock downs this thread first On to Pet Peeves, this may get a bit more colorful than what most expect from me, AirSoft, -The Back Yard player, just destroys the public view of the Game. -The self proclaimed `` Expert Ā“Ā“, they generaly fall under the catagory of, `` Is it better to be thought the Fool, or to speak and remove all Doubt ? *Even though I have not served yet, I totally agree with you here. I find it funny when I hear predictions from "military annalists". If you think you can predict the outcome of a war or battle because you think you know about the elements or moral of the troops? hahaha good luck!
-The argument on which branch of service is the Best, this area is sacred ground for those that are serving or have served, and they use it as friendly ribbing to each other, when the bullet hits the bone, they stand next to each other proudly and with deep seated respect for each other.
*I'm with ya on this one again, I tend to only talk about other JROTC units. But it pisses me off to no end when I hear other civi's talking about why the marine corps am bestust, or why the Navy would drive the air force into the ground.... Every branch has its "bad mofo's", most are much better known than others, but every branch also has its normal people. The people that don't get the glory...
-People who donĀ“t stand for the Passing of the Colors, or the national Anthem.
*ignorance I guess? I don't understand people who don't remove their hats for the national anthem, or people who just plain ignore it... Slob, you may be my long lost uncle, or brother, cousin maybe? sticks

| I will say it right here: I will stand for the pledge out of respect for this nation, but I will NOT say it, nor will I put my hand over my heart. Because I don't believe that the things in the pledge are necessarily true. I do, however, hate people that don't do anything, just sit and talk. That's disrespecting your country, and I won't disrespect my home country. I just won't say the pledge. | |

It's just a matter of respect. When you are removing you hat, you are respecting the men and women who have died protecting that flag. Compared to their sacrifice, having to remove a hat is the very least you can do.

| I think it strange to have to pledge allegiance to your country on a regular basis. Can you pledge allegiance to a different country every day? I liken this to praying to the east 5 times a day, I just don't understand it. Don't get me wrong, I stand and remove my hat as a matter of course. And just because I'm an atheist it doesn't mean I won't bow my head if someone says a prayer. It's one thing to stand up for your beliefs (or lack thereof) but one should always be polite and try not to alienate others.
Another pet peeve: people who habitually alienate others, specifically internet preachers. Also, atheists who trash talk believers and think it's stupid to have faith. They give people like me a bad name.

| @br55ftw, - Quote :
- I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under Don't use the Lord's name in vain., indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Whats not True ?? Weather anybody says it or not, that is completly up to them, it is a personal Freedom that is given to them by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, a few Documents that gives each and every American certain Rights that are guarenteed that you will not find in any other country in the world, such as the Right to Life, Liberty, and the Persuit of Happiness. The Right to Life, to be protected from arbitray execution at either the will or needs of the esablished Government, The Right to Liberty, Freedom of Movement, Expression, Free Assembly to be able to voice your opinions and to form your own, the freedom to practice your religeon without fear of perssicution, the Freedom to Learn, to broaden your horizons and not to have them dictated to you. The Right to the Persuit of Happines ( a mind blowing concept in itself ), Happiness, to be able to speak your mind, to wear the cloths you like, to present yourself openly without fear or judicial or religeous reprecussions, to date and marry the partner of `` Your Ā“Ā“ choice, to be able to establish or work in a Job of your choice, to be able to listen to the music, see the movies, eat the food you like, to be able to persue the ativities that make you happy, swimming, skiing, mountain bike riding, tennis, Airsoft. So I can see how the 31 words of the Pledge which also represents the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, might just be a bit to much for some, but Hey !, that is a part of what makes America so great. @Insane Mercc Can you bee seen by your Neighbors ? Is there the Possibility that your BBĀ“s will leave the Playing Field, is there the Possibility that a non-player may get hit or walk onto the Playing Field ? - Quote :

Big-ASS Signatures that take up entirely to much page space and make it next to impossible to read the threads with any kind of fluidity !! ( Hint !!!! ) Hahaha I totally agree...(hint hint)...and I wish signatures were better moderated (Although Im guilty of having had a dirty signature too...). - Quote :
- The Pledge of Allegiance is supposed to be important to the American citizens, however, there are a lot of debates on the Pledge of Allegiance, and its recital has been objected by many. The most objectionable factor is the phrase "under God". This phrase 'under Don't use the Lord's name in vain.' means different to every individual:
-It refers to the existence of a deity, who is omnipotent and omniscient. -It refers to a male deity, as female deities are referred to as Goddesses and are not taken into consideration in the Pledge. -Further, the phrase refers to monotheism, indicating the presence of a single deity ruling over America. -It also gives the indication that majority of the Americans believe in the existence of a Don't use the Lord's name in vain., who interfered with the events occurring on Earth, thereby guiding America in the direction He wishes. So as a spiritual agnostic, I omit this part of the pledge because I find it to be and attack on my personal rights to practice religion (or lackthereof).

I like to give the owner of their signatures a chance to self remedy the problem, have no worries, I have no problem with editing a Profile, but the good Forum Members will do it on their own after a friendly little nudge. If you are thinking about asking, chances are it needs to be changed.

| In America, less and less people are using cursive, even after learning it. I myself know and can write cursive just as easily as print, but I prefer to use print.
Because of this lack of use for cursive, reading it has more than likely become more and more difficult. Then factor in each person's different hand writing.
