This video is really sad, the whole story is. He is obviously saying the things he's saying because he is forced to. Please don't bad mouth him or call him a traitor; If you read Michael J. Durants book "In the company Of Heroes" you will understand what the Taliban is doing with him and what Bowe is doing. Please pray for him and his family....

Mark my words they are going to use this guy to the absolute maximum possible level of P.R. and psyop use, and when they can no longer milk it, he will end up like Nick Berg, or Daniel Pearl, we can only hope and pray that he is found before it gets to that point.

Slob is right, all they see him as is a tool for exploitation of American flaws; a tool of propaganda. It's all in Mike Durant's book, and unfortunately....even my mother knows it, once they're done they will most likely 'Dispose' of him....horrible, it really is. And what makes it worse is people are bad-mouthing him and blaming this poor soldier because he fell behind on his patrol, and some of them are even American. Terrible, just terrible.

Don't use the Lord's name in vain., i remember the video of that truck driver or somebody like that when he was beheaded. what a horrible way to go.

My point to start was, all you need is a few individuals to take something, turn it into a thing that fits either their way of thinking, or what the masses want to hear, and you end up with what is happening to the captured soldier, and not to twist or to pervert it in any way, but he is only making things worse, not only for himself, but for all the others in uniform serving there.

There is a reason why you are taught the Code of Conduct, and part it states,

If captured I will give only the following information,

Name
Rank
Social Security Number
D.O.B.

This poor guy is going to be used and abused,
in a way it may work to his benfit, the People holding him, can´t kill him now that he has established himself as a person, with family, feelings, wants and desires just like every other person on the Earth. Of course, it will probably come out that he was killed trying to escape.

Only time will tell if he has made the right decision by talking so much on tape, either way he will be "Watch your language" and recognized as a hero, "Watch your language" by all the people in uniform, hailed as a hero by all those opposed to the war and for the reasons why.

We can only hope and pray that he makes it back to his loved ones alive, the scars will be his alone, till the end of his days.

See, I think we should put all of our soldiers through SERE.

Very true. Mike Durant kept very stiff when asked questions about his Army/Personal life. He went through SERE school, and remembered what he learned there. On the video he was in he revealed little to nothing about himself.

What would you do with the individuals that don´t make it to completion ?? Discharge ??

SERE is not thought of as a school for the everyday soldier, or non combat arms, and is pretty much restricted to job specific Combat MOS´s.

Your last warning is when you have to sign the Waivers the generaly state that,

You are entering this Course under your own free will, you have an understanding that the Training involved will so closley as possible simulate the conditions and scenarios that can be expected to occure on the modern Battlefield.

You will not attempt to sue, bring criminal charges or pursue any kind of leagal action against the Cadre, Trainers, Evaluaters, Department of the Army, or U.S. Government, for any injuries that may be incurred to you and your person ( Physical or Psycological ) while participating in this period of instruction.



Many a persons career ended at this course.

Better Instruction about the Code of Conduct. and re-enforcement training are the key here.

Everybody has their breaking point, this poor man may have reached his, we don´t know what he had to go thru before making those video´s.

a couple of years ago, though, there was some sort of sexual assault case because a couple of female trainees were raped during SERE training, so wouldn't that have been violation of the contract?

that is not part of the training, that becomes a crime, and a hazardous working place.

Even with that contract you can still sue, you just need a very good lawyer who is good enough to get around said contract, that's all the law is, who is better at making people agree with them.
