AoE Question Empty
PostSubject: AoE Question   AoE Question Icon_minitimeWed Aug 26, 2009 7:26 pm

Okay this is just a simple question but I had to do a AoE adjustment to my G36C to prevent stripping but instead of using plastic wasters or the recommended foam/rubber washers I used screw washers which are metal. Could this possibly damage the stock plastic piston head and I need to get the more cushioned stuff, or am I fine as is?
Should I throw in my spare area 1000 aluminum piston head?

Any answer/statement appreciated.

Thanks Very Happy

I know I'm not of much help, but I've though about the same thing....There must be differences between the two but The question is, are they big enough to actually cause Harm to the Replica....? scratch

Well the metal could be strong enough to cause the piston head to crack. But I am not absolutely sure why people use plastic or rubber shims as opposed to slapping on a few metal ones.

If you are running a high FPS set up, using the Rubber, or Foam rubber, helps to disipate the impact energy.

Some piston and piston head set up, when used with High power main springs can result in piston head damage or destruction, usualy tearing the center of the piston head open.

Some techies will also say it helps to quiet the gun, guess I´m too tone deaf to notice the difference.

I see. So running a stock spring at a average RPS lets say about 18 would be fine for this just a little on the loud side?

You won´t have any problems,
Depending on the thickness of the washer that you are using, you might want to look into, concave washers, place 2 of them opposing each other, you now have a metal spring washer, eases the impact better, and quiets the gun quite nicely.
