Debate 1

Ok since it seems the higer ups will be agianst a private section we will do it like this. (If theres not enough interest I will dump this idea)

If you are interested in debate post your name here, and what you think your skill lvl is. I will then randomly pair up those with simular skill lvls and assign a random topic, one will be for it one will be agianst it.

Each team will have a thread to debate in, debate will consist of boths primary statement, you will have one week. A rebuttel 3 days, and then finaly a closing statement that will be within 2 days. The judging will take place over the next 2 days. In total each debate will take 2 weeks and there will be 1 per month.

as prizes I will try to get someone to make little "ribbon" award things for your siggah.

Once I know how many people are interested i will set up the judging system.

Anyway, I guess I'd want to be counted in for this, AS LONG AS you guys debate things involved with airsoft, like airsoft laws, gun laws, etc... Anything religious or political, count me out.

My "skill lvl" would be maybe 5/10

Probably 6/10. I'm avoiding religion but I'll keep my opinions to myself because they're not very nice ones. Politics is okay, otherwise I pretty much agree with Drummer.

wow...this sounds like a perfect excuse to spend more time on Airsoft-Allies. I'm in ^^

well thats four of us..I will wait a week then decide on the first topics, agian reli or politics relating to personal beliefs will not be discussed. i will try to focus on global issues so we get somthing out of it :p

Sounds good, ill keep sign up's open till Monday Feb 8. Ill make threads with the names of the two debaters, thier topic will be enclosed and any further rules. Judges will be decided closer to the end.

I'll do a 3/10 to start off, and we'll see where I go from there, whether it be down or up

What are the requirments for being a judge?

I'd like to be neutral as well, I'm not one for taking sides. Unless of course I feel... compelled to do so based on either party's given statements

Looks like 3 sections as of now, the reqs for judging is complete impartialality(sic) I was considering having the contestants judge the others debates..eg say me and durkee had one debate and LW and jarhead another..we would judge thiers and vica versa.

Merc and Drummer I encourage you to join in, who knows you might learn somthing :p

Im saying judges are allowed no bias. I am also saying I was cosidering using the contestants to be judges for other groups..eg debate team one judge debate team two and two judges one. Since theres two of you that seem not to want to compete i will have to think about it.

Sounds fair enough. Lets try that out for these trial runs...if it works, it works....if it doesnt, we find a new method of judging.

I think it's fine, we have enough for 2 separate 2-person teams and 2 judges, and more people will probably see this and be interested.

Well we have enough for 3 diff 2 man teams...4 if those who wanted to be judges join in we have 4 teams of 2.

I think we will try my original plan for judging...we will see how it goes.

Ah and when judging you can't just say he won! have to say why..what they did good..what other did bad. ect. The first threads will be posted on sunday..and your first week will beign

Thats why this is here...this will help you gain the ability to debate..and I must say its usefull in RL..and trust me theres a difference between debate and arguement..one gets you alot more respect then the oter. Drummer can I count you in?

As a side I will eventualy decide permanent judges based on skill in the debates, and how they judged thier assigned team.

Haha, it's neither personal nor laziness, it's just I'd rather not debate on topics I have no facts about, nor do I want to research them on biased websites.

All I'm saying is, if I can contribute to the debate, I will. If I can't, then there's no point interfering.
