I have heard of all of that except for the jamming AKs. Hardly ever see that happen.

A friend's friend's friend's buddy...probably not the best source

i bet your buddy had a copy. the original AK, only russian designs. hardly ever jam. if you are using czech, romanian, or chinese copies. the chances of jamming are much much greater. but your friend made a good point about just throwing in a few new parts in the m16s currently in service. but then again that is what they have been doing everysince the first one was introduced. they have been building up on the weapon system for over 40 years. the design of the m16 is effective, but i think the military is trying to maximize effectiveness, however i feel the 416 would be just as effective as the m16 since they exactly the same weapon except the 416 can fire from a closed bolt and open bolt position. but the differences are almost very miniscule.

anywho. AK's made in Russia are very reliable. everything else is crap. ESPECIALLY THE CZECH copies......

im sorry, but i just hate it when someone gets it in his mind that one gun is all superior.
ak's do jam, it doesnt matter what gun it is. GUNS DO JAM. sometimes its not the gun, sometimes its the ammo.
but aks are not the most reliable. they are not je sus guns. they do break sometimes.
i can't stand it when someone says that ''ak47 is the best gun and m16's suck because they jam'' because its not true.
neither are supperior
but they both are good for something and bad at things.

AK=larger round: stopping power.
M16-M4=lighter round: accuracy, travels faster.

I never said the AK don't jam. they are less likely to jam than the m16.

Any firearm with moving parts, using combustion power, and undergoes field use will have feeding problems at some point or another...will likely be damaged at some point or the other...and will overheat at some point or another. Its just a fact. The proper use and overall design of the firearm will contribute in staving off problems, but they will happen.

But from experience and a little research, it's really easy to see that Kalashnikov weapons (and most Russian firearms for that matter) are strictly utilitarian as they were made for use in Russian winters...which requires a massively high level of tolerance to ice, snow, dust, and dirt. This is achieved mostly through minimalist design.

The majority of "jamming" comes from fouling of the action, bolt, or barrel...a situation that is less prevalent in AK by design.
But in the end, the AK vs M4 thing will always happen...so keep it civil if you choose to argue, otherwise you just look like every other retard out there fighting over it
