| LOL...
"ESPN 8, the ocho, 'if its almost a sport, we've gotta hear about it' " - Dodgeball
it would be cool and all, but paintball would be choosen over airsoft simply because it is harder to cheat. And the Olympics try to promote peace, so right now if you had a USA airsoft team versing a Russian airsoft team, and they are all mil' brats. That is a recipe for disaster...
EDIT:: Also airsoft and paintball both simulate war and most countries have pretty much outlawed these sports.
No it would not be a good idea in the olympics. | |

| I said no for now because it is not widly accepted as a sport as time goes on though it might become more popular and more widly accepted. | |

| Yeah but still this could be made into a sport and if the Olympics supported it then wouldn't the world ? Besides as for peace karate is one of the most violent things that I have ever seen and its an Olympic sport so ? | |

| Karate is actually a defensive martial art......
Airsoft replicates soldiers shooting soldiers, painball almost made it but they considered speedball(the kind on ESPN 2) not woodsball which is the closest thing painball has to milsim.
I said no because as Killyouon pointed out the olympics promote peace, and IMO it would kinda go against what they stood by.
However do I think we could do a multi country army MilSim event hosted by the US Army(like the top sniper, best Jump, and best Ranger challenges). Absolutely, but the Army would have to put some serious dough into it, and I don't think they would be ready to do that with the 2 wars were fighting ATM.

| Well considering that the roots of the Olympics can be traced back to the military, Why not ? All field and track events are have their roots in the military, to include all the shooting disciplines, Wrestling, Boxing, Swimming, Weightlifting and so on...... Would definitely be more interesting to watch than Synchronized Swimming | |

| well i forget the name of the event but in the winter ones they ski and shoot....and i mean some events are just plain boring! (IE synchronized swimming).......so why do the get a place and airsoft doesn't? i mean come on guys like the 6MM Hunters spend HUGE amounts of time in thousand acre plots hunting for one another living off the land...so how is that not a sport? - Quote :

| Well the main problem with airsoft being played as a sport, not to mention an Olympic sport, is that it is really, really, really easy to cheat. It's simple, just don't call hits. So until there is a technology that would alert a ref to a player's "death", there is no way it would ever work. Paintball would have a greater chance of becomign an olympic sport because cheating is near to impossible when you're being watched by millions of people, paint wiping would have to be REALLY stealthy. I don't think either game would ever make it because of their combat roots. I mean, why would the olympic coordinators want to promote violence and killing...? | |

| well good point i used to play PB and i never cheated mainly because that was in the younger days and when i got hit i jumped up and down! and no they don't want to promote things like that but i don't think airsoft will ever make it into the Olympics unless there is a sure fire way to prevent people from cheating | |
