Up untill the 80's the average troop didn't wear the US Flag patch on there combat uniform Only SF had that right or high ranking officers.
SF have the right to blouse there trousers and boots like the USMC do to the terrain and climate they go into.

| Ancient Mesopotamia had the first real army of the world. Before then it was tribes fighting over little amounts of land. Thats when the first organized military came around. After the first "real" king died the sons divided the land and armies and so from there civilization began to spread and become governed by a large government instead of tribes. This all happened in present day Saudi arabia. Ya lol this is real old school facts =) | |

| The Canadian military drops their guns when they run out of ammo, grab an AK47 or an RPG, and proceed to blind fire them off of buildings after they come under fire. I'll try to find the video. | |

| Guys, this is meant as a joke, take it as such. I am not knocking any branch, religion, or whatever. IT IS JUST A JOKE.
In the beginning was the word, and the word was Godd.
In the beginning was Godd, and all else was darkness and void, and without form. So Godd created the heavens and the Earth. He created the sun, and the moon, and the stars, so that light might pierce the darkness. The Earth, Godd divided between the land and the sea, and these he filled with many assorted creatures.
And the dark, salty, slimy creatures that inhabited the murky depths of the oceans, Godd called sailors. And He dressed them accordingly. They had little trousers that looked like bells at the bottom. And their shirts had cute little flaps on them to hide the hickeys on their necks. He also gave them long sideburns and shabby looking beards. Godd nicknamed them "squids" and banished them to a lifetime at sea, so that normal folks would not have to associate with them. To further identify these unloved creatures, He called them "petty" and "commodore" instead of titles worthy of red-blooded men.
And the flaky creatures of the land, Godd called soldiers. And with a twinkle in His eye, and a sense of humor that only He could have, Godd made their trousers too short and their covers too large. He also made their pockets oversized, so that they may warm their hands. And to adorn their uniforms, Godd gave them badges in quantities that only a dime store owner could appreciate. And He gave them emblems and crests... and all sorts of shiny things that glittered...and devices that dangled. (When you are Godd you tend to get carried away.)
On the 6th day, He thought about creating some air creatures for which he designed a Greyhound bus driver's uniform, especially for Air Force flyboys. But He discarded the idea during the first week, and it was not until years later that some apostles resurrected this theme and established what we now know as the "Wild-Blue-Yonder Wonders."
And on the 7th day, as you know, Godd rested.
But on the 8th day, at 0730, Godd looked down upon the earth and was not happy. No, Godd was not happy! So He thought about His labors, and in His divine wisdom Godd created a divine creature. And this He called Marine. And these Marines, who Godd had created in His own image, were to be of the air, and of the land, and of the sea. And these He gave many wonderful uniforms. Some were green; some were blue with red trim. And in the early days, some were even a beautiful tan. He gave them practical fighting uniforms, so that they could wage war against the forces of Satan and evil. He gave them service uniforms for their daily work and training. And He gave them evening and dress uniforms... sharp and stylish, handsome things... so that they might promenade with their ladies on Saturday night and impress the "Watch your language" out of everybody! He even gave them swords, so that people who were not impressed could be dealt with accordingly. And at the end of the 8th day, Godd looked down upon the earth and saw that it was good. But was Godd happy? No! Godd was still not happy! Because in the course of His labors, He had forgotten one thing: He did not have a Marine uniform for himself. He thought about it, and thought about it, and finally Godd satisfied Himself in knowing that, well... not everybody can be a Marine!

Seriously though, time for some cold, hard facts!
The United States Marine Corps was created on November 10, 1775 at Tun Tavern, Philadelphia, when the Continental Congress authorized two brigades of Continental Marines to be formed.
Lt. Gen. Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller was the most decorated Marine to have ever lived. He was awarded the Navy Cross with Four Stars, the Distinguished Service Cross, a Silver Star, Legion of Merit with One Star and valor device, Bronze Star with valor device, Purple Heart, Air Medal with 2 stars, Navy Presidential Unit Citation with Five service stars, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal with one service star, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal with one service star, World War One Victory Medal with West Indies clasp, Haitian Campaign Medal, Nicaraguan Campaign Medal, China Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal with base clasp, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with four service stars, World War Two Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with five service stars, Haitian Medaille Militaire, Nicaraguan Presidential Medal of Merit with Diploma, nicaraguan Cross of Valor with Diploma, Order of Military Merit, Eulji Cordon Medal, Chinese Order of the Cloud and banner, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and Unite Nations Korea Medal. That gives him a whopping 27 awards and medals. | |

| Surgeons in Iraq usually smoke while operating on someone. when they need both hands, they have someone hold it. My cousin told me that after he transported 3 half dead insurgents after they got toasted with their own IED, and watched their guts get put back inside them. | |

| In both World War II and Vietnam, male personnel In-Country were issued Prophylactic Kits. Fraternization with the local populace was prohibited, but loosely enforced. Many line personnel put the condoms on the barrels of their rifles to keep sand and debris out of their barrel.
When the first Atom Bomb was tested at the Trinity Site near San Antonio, New Mexico on July 16, 1945, physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer was credited with quoting the Bhagavad Gita by saying "I Am Become Death, Destroyer of Worlds".

| Hooah is also supposedly derived from Heard Understood Acknowledged. Never heard the WW1 comment, but makes sense. Kinda funny too. 1 internet to the person who can tell me what branch of the military the USAF derives from. Its pretty obvious, another cookie for the branch of that specific service it derives from. The USAF authorizes boot blousing with BDU's(Navy/USMC), they also authorize the BDU tuck(army style). The USAF is the best branch of the military . sticks | |

LS24, the navy still has an aviation branch. The funny thing is, there's more Aggressive Aerospace opportunities(fighters) in the Navy than in the Air Force. You guys got an extra fact!

| During WWII the Germans got good at listening for the sound an M1 Garand makes after the clip ejected. In urban areas they would hear it and know you were out and then hope to catch you out of the fight while reloading by charging your position. The troops learned to counter that by keeping an empty clip with them and throwing it on the ground after firing a few shots since the thrown clip would make the same sound as an ejected one when it hit the ground. So when Jerry came around the corner looking for an easy kill they would be met with an M1 that was loaded instead. | |
