Well the U.S. Coast Guard isn\'t allowed to intervine in whaling because they have other things to worry about...like PIRACY in the eastern seas...and other reasons that im sure some other smarter person will answer..probly something about international waters and all that..

| IT'S A F*CKING WHALE! JESUS! I don't really care if one subspecies of aquatic mammal goes extinct. The only thing non-whalers do about them is slave over "whale rights" programs and stare at them from a boat and say "oooh".
Think about it, we do cruel things to whales. Ever hear of Shamoo? It's really a ton of different whales that zookeepers stole from their mothers at a young age and trained/forced to splash water out of their tanks for thousands of little white children to watch. In my book, that's torture. More cruel than killing them and actually USING its resources.

| I wouldn't have the capability to think about it because I would be a WHALE. Whales can't think out of feeling, only instinct.
So to be realistic, I would probably swim around in a circle and try to remember what my mom "said" about breaching at the surface every 30 minutes or whatever. Then I would forget because I'm a dumb whale and die. Then I would be eaten by other fish and animals and be thankful that I gave them the energy to continue their life.
Circle of nature, bud. | |

BTW: What are the laws when in International waters...and who enforces them... they already were shooting em with high powered water cannons, and I talked to my father (a sailor bit of understanding of international waters) and he said that if it was international law and someone disobeyed it they could face penalties

For the last time, Whaling is not Illegal ! Check the IWC, the laws and quidlines for Whaling are laid down each and every year to include the quotas and types of whales that can be hunted.
As far as `` Ship Ramming ´´ goes, the so called ecoterrorists `` Sea Shepards ´´, have gone so far as to equip thier ships with ` Can Openers´, with the intention of opening up the hulls of Whaling and support Vessels, the best example being the ramming of the Oriental Bluebird, luckily the hull was not opened, the Oriental Bluebird is a Tanker for refueling.
As far as the Ses Shepards being Legal, boarding a vessel without permission or legal authorization is considered piracy, attempting to damage or disable vessels not owned or operated by you is vandalism, destruction of property, and under certain circumstances, attempted murder, willfully placing the lives of other in danger on the open sea can be charged as attempted murder in a maritime court.
Again, I support the idea of what the SSCS it attempting to do, I do not agree with thier tactics, and as far as thier operation goes, Fail, try again, Fail again, try again, fail again......
They would be more succeful by running in front of the hunter vessels, turning over thier film to the IWC and World Court, raising public awareness with succes and positive action, instead of this Tofu driven, pre-puberty, drivel .

| And btw, whales are sentient. Bugs, snakes, and other non-sentient species behave simply according to instinct. Whales, dogs, cats, and chimps, among other species, do think for themselves. | |

| Whale Wars is just another one of those reality TV shows tryin' to scam people outa there mind by making thier show look it's actually doing some good in the world...when in fact, those crewman more than likely don't give a flying \"Watch your language\" about whales, as long is it brings in a steady fan base, which brings in the $$$s.
They know that there is a large population of people with the "SAVE TEH POLARBEARZ!!!1!!11" mentality. Watch The Cove...now those guys are doing some good in the world.
