upgrading a TM AUG for Reliability.

Ok, here is what i need help with:

1. Springs: What's the heaviest spring i can safely get with minimal risk to my gun?

2. Gear-set: If i'm using the piston from this pack, what kind of gears do i need:

1: An M120 is about as high as you can/need to go before major money. TM's run fine stock, most out range Echo's/JG's/other china clones stock... Remember, more FPS does not = more range.

2: Gears are actually affected more by you motor/spring combo. If you want a high FPS gun, you might need new gears(probably not though, unless your using an M130 or equivalent spring). If you are running with a speed motor you might want some new gears.

I would not get that piston set, it says its made for lightly modified guns. The stock TM piston is a really nice piston, if you stay below 400FPS you don't need to upgrade anything in the cylinder(excluding spring and spring guide).


The lowest wear and tear setup, at 400FPS(usually the max for AEG's with full auto) would be an M110 spring, bore up kit, new air nozzel and maybe a MOSFET for quick trigger response/keep the gears in time!

1. See how there are different kinds of gears(modified, smooth, etc.)? What is the difference between all ofthem?

2. Torque is better for reliability than speed, right? Also, what's the difference between the EG 700's and the EG 1000's in this link:

3. And since i'm not going to upgrade my gun into high FPS's or RoF's, can i still use that cylinder kit? They don't have a bore-up kit for an AUG so i'm kinda stuck

1: If you are going to get after market gears you want Helical gears. I would only upgrade the gears if you are upgrading for allot of FPS.

2: Torque produces more torque... Speed produces more speed. If you get don to the very basics of the mechanics then yes in general Torque can be more reliable than speed, but very high speed setups can be acheived(by very high I mean 20RPS ish). Eg700 is TM's lower "speed" or RPM motor. EG100 has a higher RPM.

3: If you are not doing a high speed or FPS setup then why replace the cylinder set? Really I don't think the Modify set is going to make any difference at all. It may even be bad for it (give less compression).

4: Springs don't necessarily get heavier, they get stiffer. But yes a stiffer spring will decrease you ROF, however you can counter this by getting a higher RPM motor, or a higher voltage/discharge battery.

1. Do all helical gears require a half-tooth piston or only IFTU gearsets?

2.are there any down-sides to having a higher RPM?

3.nevermind i found a bore-up cylinder kit for an AUG

4.is an 8.4v 1600 mAh with MOSFET strong enough to reliably pull a 120 spring?
