Can I upgrade a M14 to be a sniper?

So I saw a demonstration of a M14 and I was thinking DANG that is nice. After a few thoughts, I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade the M14 to be a decent sniper?

maybe I didn't put enough details?
Is there a way where, I can increase its range, its fps, and definetly make it quieter?

What kind of M14 do you have?

For starts, the easiest accuracy upgrade is a new TBB. I reccomend 6.03 for DMR, and 6.01 for snipers

Like LW said a TBB would be the easyest way to increase accuracy. You can probably increase range by getting a stronger spring. I don't think theres really a way to decrease sound other than maybe get some styrafoam and packing the inside of the gun with it. Im not to sure on internal upgrades I would have somebody else check to see if I was right about the spring. Make sure you get a scope mount if your planning on putting a scope on it and if you get it let me know how its ive always wanted one of those.

well i might have to look for a while but somewereon ASGi there is a full M120 tuneup kit that i know form 100% experince will fit a CYMA M14 and it will make it shoot like a fully upgraded(with this kit anyway) TM M14!

The only problem you will run into with the m14 is the mechbox design. I know for a fact that the Echo 1 m14 wasn't the easiest to get into DMR role... once I did get it shooting 450 fps range the cut off lever went out and it would only shoot in full auto since it doesnt have a traditional tappet plate design like other AEG's. This was an issue... especially since the TM M14 cut off lever is a different size than the Echo 1 model. I know because I tried to use it anyways. Doesnt work.

I ended up putting mine on ebay and selling it really cheap, but I am not sure if the model you are looking at is the same as the Echo 1 m14 or not... but that is just what I know of m14's and things to watch out for.

Oh, just wanted to also add that it is kind of a pain in the butt to take apart an m14... the mechbox is bolted to all kinds of crap.

The m14 im looking to buy is not a echo 1. Its a CYMA. Is that any good?

Also what kind of scope do you guys think I should get?

I haven't heard anything about the CYMA M14 but if you read some reviews or watch some videos about it on youtube you should get a pretty good idea of how it is. For a scope I wouldent get anything to crazy maybe like a 3-9x40 or something a little less its not going to be able to reach ranges of a bolt action sniper so your scope dosent need that much of a zoom.

I, personally, would vote strongly against getting a semi or full auto rifle as sniper rifle Because they are way to loud and you will
be found and taken out most like after your first shot. The whole point of being a sniper in airsoft is to be silent and invisible
and any type of AEG will make this extremely difficult, so for these reasons i would reccomend you getting a bolt action sniper rifle

AEG snipers are good for combat snipping but can be very helpful at long distances. Also if your getting taken out after your first shot try a better hiding place or a further distance. Bolt actions are nice but remember every time you take a shot you have to take your eye of the scope to pull the bolt back. So if you miss there going to hear the BB if there close enough and then you have to pull the bolt back and find your target again and re-align the shot. With a SASS if you miss you just have to make a small adjustment on your target and take another shot.

Yes unless you can find a really good spot that has a decent range and lots of cover. Move along with a squad but kind of hang towards the back of the squad so if they get into any trouble you could pick off the enemy giving your squad the upper hand.

I would say a new spring but the thing about M14s is that they have funny internals. The CYMA M14 has a good FPS for a combat snipper on most feilds the average FPS allowance for an AEG is 350-375 so its pretty much perfect. I wouldent upgrade the spring if you play on fields I wouldent want you to spend a lot of money on internal upgrades and have the FPS be to high and then your not able to play at the field with that gun.

Well the sniper fps limit is 450. Will the spring make it go over the limit?

It might but the M14 becuase its battery powered and has an full automatic mode they will probably consider it to be an AEG. The spring really depends you could get a spring that can shoot over 450 FPS or you can get a spring that shoots at around 360-380 FPS.

For BBs since your going to be snipping were talking maybe .25s.

READ THE DESCRIPTION SO YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE TO BUY. Your probably going to be looking at an M120 spring.

what do you mean
that my gun has to be a certain fps to be upgraded or what?

No by that I mean that is the range of the FPS of your gun will shoot once you put that spring in your gun. Example you have an M110 spring with an FPS of 330-350 you put an M120 spring in your gun your FPS will be 370-400 FPS.

Im not sure I think all springs will work in any AEG but I would call ASGI or make a trip down there just to be sure. Make sure you also get all the recomended upgrades in the description or you will find yourself replacing those soon.
