| So who is going in to the military and what would you want to do and why?
I personally am only 1.5 years away from enlisting in the Navy, as a JAG. I believe I am not cut out for a regular combat soldier, I have "too much brain" to "waste" just fighting...

| I'm still deciding. I'm picking either from UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS, or Delta Force... Delta Force because I"m into urban fighting, haha (Counter Terroism?)
Just cause an idiot decides to do something terrible, doesn't mean they should take it out on neighboring innocent people. Delta Force RIDS OF TERROISTS. WOOT! GO DELTA FORCE!

| I'm either going to go for Marine Corps and be a LAV crewman or an Infantry Officer or Infantry Unit Leader. I just think it would be better for me to lead than to follow.
OR do Army as an Infantry Officer or maybe work in an armored division because I like working with vehicles. I'm not really sure yet and I have a good amount of time to think about it (3-4 years).
Either way I know I'm going to serve in our military. I look forward to it very much.

| I'm thinking SWAT (sniper maybe?). I don't want to be shipped off to lord knows where, and I live near Baltimore, so there should be plenty to keep me busy. | |

| I really wanted to join either the Air Force or Navy as a computer tech but stupid medical stuff prevents me from being accepted. | |

| After I get my degree in aerospace engineering, I may consider the Air Force. They have all sorts of fun toys. I was considering ROTC for a while, but was advised against it by my brother-in-law. Eventually though, I'd like to work at NASA. | |

| Still deciding on the branch, but I have a general idea of paths I can take. Combat medic (Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy) or Combat Air Controller (Airforce, Navy, Marines)
So ya, at this point im aiming more towards medical, only because that is likely a more marketable skill for "real life". Or at least, thats what my recruiter contact is saying.

| If I joined the military, which I'm not saying I would, I think I would join the Air Guard. There is just something cool about protecting the country from enemy atacks in the skies. | |

I hope you know that you can't just stroll up to your CO and say "I wanna lead." In order to lead, you need to show exemplary(sp?) leadership skills, and a willingness to do anything you would order your squadmates to do. My MSgt. picked me as a squad leader because I would never let a platoon mate fall behind in PT, and I would keep my platoon mates' morale up. I also tried my hardest at everything I did, and volunteer for any type of work my MSgt. asked me to do. If he looked at me and said "Cadet Pvt. Jarhead999, scrub the head with your toothbrush," then goddangit, I'd scrub the head with my toothbrush so much the "Watch your language" thing would shine from miles away. My whole point is, do everything you can to help out your fireteam, squad, platoon, and your company, and you will be rewarded. Anyways, I want to do one of three things: MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit), MarForRec (Marine Force Recon), or good ol' Line Platoon! I'm meant to be a grunt. My superiors say I'm one of the best tacticians at the LE1 level in my Company, so if my MCJROTC program is continued for the next four years, I'll have a very good chance of being a squad leader, or possibly a Platoon commander. (Oohrah) Though, if I was ever offered the opportunity to go to OCS, I probably wouldn't go. That's just not where I want to be. My family has a history of fighting on the line as enlisted men. And besides, Sergeants have more fun anyway! edit: Now that I think of it, being a DI would be pretty fun, too

Kinky. Hahaha, just kidding. But, yeah, volunteer for any type of work you can, even if it's sucktastic work, like cleaning up after football games and stuff. Although, in my unit, that can be pretty fun! Sorry, we need to get back on topic before Durkee goes ape "Watch your language" on our asses.

Sorry, we need to get back on topic before Durkee goes ape "Watch your language" on our asses. "Watch your language" right! hahah. Anyone know what kind of path I need to take in order to become a corpman/combat medic? I'm quite sure EMT training would be in order, but any other tips?

| Well, if i choose to go into the military (which i probably will) I will either go into the Marines to be an Infantry Commander (no vehicles for me, just a large object to see through the sights of an RPG-7) or work on an Aircraft Carrier in the Navy. Now, I love to fly and am getting my Pilots licence ASAP, but my vision isn't 20/20, so i couldnt fly in the Airforce unless i got lazer eye surgery. Does anybody know if they allow that? | |

Yessur as long as your eyes are 20/20 or better...doesnt matter if you've had surgery, a blessing from the pope, or transplanted your eyeballs. Lasik is what I plan on doing. Im not too bad, but they aren't 20/20.
