| I know it isn't advised to begin airsofting as a sniper for the lack of experience but I'm really determined to be one. Does anyone have any words of encouragement or some beginner tips that I should keep in mind? Maybe some personal experience if any of you thought the same thing and went through with it? | |

I would first recommend looking around this and other airsoft forums. Most have specified airsoft sniping sections you can get a lot of advice from. Second I'd recommend looking around www.theairsoftsniper.com. It is one of the few sites dedicated to airsoft snipers exclusively. It will give you the basics as well as recommendations on what to wear, how to act and react, and so on. But still, the best teacher is experience. You can read a million articles on how to be an effective airsoft sniper, but is that going to make you an effective sniper? Absolutely not. You need to get out and practice..... A LOT. Even if you're by yourself. Practice movement, accuracy and reaction time as much as you can. The more you're out practicing the better you'll get, I guarantee it. We can give you simple advice like "practice breathing techniques, silent stalking, using surrounding vegetation to conceal yourself, etc. etc.," but these things are best taught by practice.

| Your best bet is to find a mentor in my case I got in touch online with a lot of people or look up imformation on a site like this. I take it that you already have a gun and sidearm. So I say get yourself a simple 4x32 scope i prefer leapers. Get to know your gun inside and out. and then learn shoot it in many conditions. I'm not going to get into specifics PM me for that. learn to shoot right breathing aiming other things. learn camaflouge tactics. learn all of these things to a basic form then decide the type or types of snipeing you'd like to specilaze in choose and train Pm if you don't know any types or if you can't decide. | |

| Do what army snipers have to do... get a couple of friends together send them to the other end of the field and see how close you can get without them seeing you. This will teach pations and how to use the wind and other things to your advantige. | |

| Well you could ask the people if you could use it but you don't need to practice stealth with your gun if its by a road. | |

| Sniping is a very demanding position. It would be good if you practice what you read and reveiwed it often. Instead of just reading it then showing up at the game "woot im ready!!!" but you neglected to "quiet step" when near or on enemy territory. lol
You want to have a spotter with you too, this person must also know feild craft as well as you do. For example you don't want him/her to have a rattling hi-cap. or a large bb dump that also rattles. There is more info on the site.
Another thing that is most often required of a sniper is that before any shots are taken there is always a series of radio calls relating to asking where the enemies are, which flank is often neglected. stuff like that. Which you must be able to answer as a scout.
Good luck though. its possible and im sure others have been here before.

| http://home.swipnet.se/longrange/There is some good reading on this site, under the 'sniper tatics' and 'sniping' headings. There are of course many other sites dotted around the internet. Putting such material into practice is another thing, takes time and experience | |
