| In the past Month and a Half or so Ive noticed NUMEROUS "+1"s on posts and I was wondering if we should propose adding this option or a similar one about "Cookies" or a Cookie Emote to Admin, and instead of just making a regular topic ive decided to make my First Poll(I think ) | |

| I don't think it matters as long as we say more than just giving credit. And if there truly is nothing else to say other than "+1" or "I agree" or "Cookie to you", I think we should just not post until someone has a better or at least different suggestion than the other person's advice.
Edit: Disallowing those options would make this place seem like it's run by a bunch of tightwads. Sure, it makes for a pointless post, but as I said, it should be tolerated as long as the poster has something else to say.

| Personaly...it amuses me since I started the cookie thing..and maybe the +1 but I can't remember.
Only time it gets annoying is when its all thats stated..and this topic is rather silly tbh...no ones going to ban saying that.

| I agree with Zane, it's not like we're gonna get a +1 Gestapo going on, haha.
I think it's fine as long as we start backing up our "+1s" with quality info. I'm guilty of not doing that, but I will start backing it up in the future.

| If one were to determine what attribute the moderators share with the beast, it would be the cunning and predatory instinct of the hawk. But if one were to determine the attributes the +1 posters share with the beast, it would be that of the rat...
I present to the AA community: the +1 Gestapo ...technically Landa was SS though...so I guess it doesn't really work.
But there is a fine line between enforcing rules and being the gestapo (which is a really nice metaphor) about it. I think what little of the community I've seen walks that line nicely.

| This thread isn't about how we should enforce post quality or to ban the +1 or cookie terms but to possibley make it a rating option like digs or whateva that blogger crap is. Or just have an Emote to use instead of a plain "+1" or "Have a Cookie" | |

Rating systems work well... Instead of having everyone feel like they need to post "oh ya I agree" after a good post or "thank you" following a good suggestion, one can simply click the karma/rating button. I like the idea. But...theres always a "but". Phpbb, the company Admin uses to host/create the forum, may not have the option of karma...but I'll take a look at their support site and see. EDIT:Yup! They have it. Theres a mod called "MODDB" (Karma MOD) that Admin can write into the site's code.

No not at all. You'd "+1" by clicking their positive karma button...

Agreed DrummerBoyz95! It's fine showing your approval of a statement through the giving of a delicious cookie or a "+1," but a thread full of just these makes for a rather boring conversation. So, here's the new "rule": If you're going to show that you like what someone has said through whatever short statement you please, then make sure you add more than just that to your post. We want to know your opinions too, not just that you agree with others' opinions! And as of this moment, the software I use does not allow for Karma - sorry! But I'll go ahead and send the administrators a message requesting it.

Reminds me of a book i once read...the Gods were fighting a war, when the war was over the book ended with the head Don't use the Lord's name in vain. in a meeting with some superior being...Don't use the Lord's name in vain. of the Gods..
