What are the legalities concerning airsoft guns?
I live in England and am 14 year's of age.
I am very interested in purchasing an airsoft gun, but I have a few question's.

What are the legal side of thing's? For example is it legal for me to carry an airsoft gun? Where can it be used?
What bullet's do the gun's actually carry, how much do they hurt?
Also, which airsoft gun type would you recommend? For example Handgun.?

Lastly, if it is not legal for me to have an airsoft gun, what good alternative would you recommend?

England has tighter laws concerning airsoft guns so i would recommend maybe hitting up an English airsoft forum to find out exactly what you need to do. I do know that unless you join a certain group you can only buy certain airsoft guns mostly in a bright lime green color.

It's never a good idea to carry an airsoft gun in public unless it's in a bag or a case. Here in the US we can use our guns pretty much anywhere we have permission to play like backyards, in the woods, open fields, and of course designated playing areas.

It's best not to refer to BB's as bullets, they're projectiles but saying bullets kinda moves airsoft into a bad light with some people. Most airsoft guns shoot 6mm plastic BB's with a few capable of shooting 8mm BB's. BB's can sting a lot depending on where and how close you're hit from but it really depends on the persons tolerance of pain.

Get a decent AEG (electric gun) to start out with. Using only a pistol is not something i'd recommend to a new player.

If I remember correctly, Under 18 in the UK, a max energy of 1 joule, 330 FPS and full automatic is illegal, don´t quote me though, I´m having enough trouble keeping up with the laws here.

You need to take a trip to Ground Zero, an event in the south of England, absolutly awsome Mil-Sim/Role Playing game, had a freaking blast last year, International, great Players and the organization was off the charts !!!!

Depending on the distance you get hit from, it can feel like anything froma light pinch, to a bee sting.

Even though AS rules and laws are pretty tight in England, I would actually reccommend this hobby for you. You definately sound mature enough to handle it, I say try it out.
