A Scenario For You

Tomorrow, you wake up, and the People's Republic of China has invaded the West Coast using amphibious assaults in LA, San Diego, Portland, and San Francisco and is aggressively moving east. Airborne units are landing in Denver, Pheonix, Salt Lake City, and Boise. The US military is putting up heavy resistance, but eventually disengage to retreat to the relative safety of the country side. Some units also retreat east to try to link up with armored units from Fort Hood. You have been hearing radio reports that the President has been assasinated by Chinese snipers hiding in the local populace.

What do you do LOCALLY? Be realistic. No "I would call Chuck Norris" or "I would find a nuclear bomb and blow shitt up".

edit: once I get some answers, I'll update the scenario. New things will happen, new doors will open up, etc. etc.

1. Put on my gas mask
2. Let Police handle things until they get megapwnt
3. Rally the community's gun suppliers and see what they can do to protect us.
4. Get myself a weapon and ammo, probably some body armor if I can get my hands on it
5. Wait for a chance to kick some Commie ass!

I've been wanting to post one of these for a while!!!

1. Begin setting up an outpost in the woods behind my house....I know this sounds immature, but I've given this much thought, and can navigate these woods easily and very quickly.
2. Gather supplies (Food, water, weapons, and ammo) for the OP.
3. gather members. seperate them between fighters, and civillians.
4. Get in contact with locale or the closest military groups, and keep in touch so I know what's going on.
5. THE PLAN: If it comes down to it, "I wasn't built to be a prisoner." I'd do what I could to help my people and my country before I went out. What would go down is the people who're designated fighters would engage the enemy, slow them down, give em a few casualties, then retreat to another spot in the area. Repeat this process as many times as possible to give the civillians time to escape. I've got all the areas mapped out already, and when and how we'd get to them, and in what order. This is what happens when you're bored in school!!

Now, this is obviously a plan made IF we would be on our own. If anything else, I'd take what weapons of mine that are close to combat worthy (My M1, and my BAR .30-06 and my .12 gauge) and hook up with a group heading to help the military.

I'd go down to my local gun shop, get a M4, Saiga-12, and a Glock or two with plenty of mags for all three, head on over to the Surplus Store and get myself a nice rig and some pouches, put on my cammies, and call my SMI. See what he's gonna do. Call the MI. See what he's gonna do, too. Try to get some sort of militia group going, maybe head out to the mesas when the Chinese get within 300 miles. I'd stockpile fertilizer, foam, and fuel, along with some big ass metal things to make some IEDs, and wait for the Chinese Type-95s to start rolling down I-25 from the Denver or I-40 from Pheonix. Then, after I've (hopefully) neutralized a couple of tanks and hopefully made it out alive, recruit the citizens of Albuquerque. That is my plan for this stage of the scenario.

As a civie, I would hop on the UHF/VHF to confirm reports, organize evac to non-conflicted areas, and do my part to handle emergency communications.
Then lock and load.

Assuming the likely mode of transportation will be the Chinese ZBD2000, which has a land speed of about 45 mph, I'll have roughly an hour before units are rolling into my town (if they don't meet resistance within the 40 miles between the Pacific Ocean and my city).

Considering the invading forces heading for LA and San Diego will likely be challenged by fighter/attack flights out of Vandenberg Air Force Base, hunter helo gunships out of Camp Pendleton, fighter flights out of Leemore Naval Air Station, Miramar, and Edwards AFB...the invading force will likely be slowed considerably once birds are in the air.

My estimate would be that the amphibious force would make the trek inland in about 1 day instead of the above mentioned 1 hour due to air resistance as well as the fact that LA traffic is KILLER

That gives me a bit more time to move get out of the crossfire.
My likely route would take me South into Mexico where I will remain, doing my part through message relay while I'm there, until I can safely return to The States (assuming I can ever return safely).

Then...I'd blog...

well one thing is almost everyone has a gun, but IN WISCONSIN

I can't wait to update the scenario 'till this afternoon. I'm doing it now.

Chinese forces have pushed through the west coast and are now moving tank columns east through Arizona. Some are going to Pheonix, where the locals have begun fighting the Chinese. Salt Lake City has become a hot bed for insurgency, with rebels engaging in hit-and-run tactics based from the mountains. The Chinese airborne forces have been pushed out of Boise, and Boise has been declared a safe haven for American citizens, though armored units are headed towards Boise from Portland. Seattle has been taken by Chinese forces. The American forces in the West are in a state of chaos. Some units remain dug in behind enemy lines, and some units no longer exist. The Chinese military has orders to execute any American military personnel on sight. No prisoners will be taken. They have also begun weeding out politicians and executing them. The UN has headed to Beijing to try to start peace talks, but all delegates sent to Beijing have gone silent. Humanitarian aid has been sent to California, though the Chinese military has rounded up all aid workers and forced them into a small compound in LA.

Now it comes back to you. What do you do locally?

Hmmm. . .

Step 1. Learn Chinese
Step 2. . . Wait out war

Step 3 (If China Wins) move to Japan
Step 4 (If America Wins) Forget Chinese.

Sorry folks, living on the mountains any resistance would fail. Food can be too easily cut off, and only a few people, myself being one of them, have the skills to survive in the forest and backcountry. But not enough to cause a real resistance.

Well in this scenario I would gather up a few things(ammo, and MRE's mostly), and watch the tubes. This scenario is waaaay to far out for me to be bothered by. maybe send a few care packages... So I'm with Slob on this one...

Actually on second thought, after reading elementfrvr's post I think this would be an excellent excuse to head up to Canada for a while and meet up with Elle. Forget Kantian Deontology, I place desire over duty!

Now I would contact the guys from rifle team at my school and at La Cueva (both have some of the best marksmanship scores in the state) and post them up downtown with high powered rifles. By this point, the Air Force would have either bugged out at Kirtland or locked up, getting ready for a fight. I will remain in the mesas with some other "rebels" and continue my guerilla warfare. I will place IEDs to destroy Chinese tank columns. If possible, I will attempt to find some Chinese heavy weapons like HMGs, LMGs, rifles, maybe some RPGs if possible. I will make some technicals if I can. That is my plan for now.
