| I don't believe in grenades if you want to spend that kind of money might as well buy the rifle grenade or M203 | |

Not powerful enough + project has been set aside too much moola. Apparently it costs 3/4 a mil $ US to build a unmanned vehicle.

| Wow! I can't believe I've never seen this topic. Lonewolf, how did this all end? Still thinking of the recon system? Once I finish my UAV I will gladly demonstrate the practicality of an unmanned recon system for all to see. A ground based system would be quite interesting. | |

| Well these are land based vehicles.
I came across two problems. Radio control, in rough terrain, your lucky to get a click of it. That includes buildings. I thought about cell phones to send txt messages to the robot with commands in script, then the whole FCC not be too happy with me knowing how to do that....(upload injection skript into someones phone for maximum phr3kage) Presents kind of a problem.
Next you have land hazards, these include mud, fallen trees, and steep hills. To build a robot to traverse woodland terrain is a feat that makes the Mars rovers look like lego rcx robots.
I also lost interest. Regular airsoft, which I play, is not worth projects to just beat the other team every weekend. The only people who would need these kind of training programs is the military. THEY ALREADY DO!

| Is see your point. But I figure hey, why not incorporate all of my hobbies into one. Web design, RC, photography/video, engineering, and radios...all great hobbies by themselves...but when combined all at the same time with airsoft as the medium: awsomeness. | |

"Watch your language", you got me there I suppose when it comes down to it, money is the deciding factor. I'm quite sure I'D have to eat poptarts for every meal the next few years in order to pay for a fly-by-camera/thermal-imaging/wifi-radar/terrain-mapping UAV heheh. Still, glad I found this thread. I got a bit of insight and some new ideas for projects I'm stuck on.

| I would really start learning programming. It would save you a lot of money in your future tech projects.
C++, C are the two main codes that deal with Unmanned tech. A good knowledge of binary would help a lot in multiple relay circuits for remote controls.
Robotics would probably end up being cheaper if you can afford to take your time and properly code scripts to operate the UAV robot etc. You can send your UAV out like a Romba (a romba with GPS marked borders, you can probably use a basic civilian GPS system for this. the reception would be really good because your above the tree line and landscape.) and it will take pics of all enemy opposition and update you on location and time of the photo. This would do away with the need for one person to be controlling it during a game, and probably more realistic. If your in a battle scenario, it will seem a lot like this. But again this kind of system is very advance, you may need to suck something to get access to it...
