| I wont even go into the topic of a modern Nuclear Holocaust, however I do think the whole North Korea this is a little over blown in the US media.
Think about it, the last time they tested an ICBM capable missile they had two multi million $ hunks of metal land in the ocean a few miles from the launch site. I could see some benefits of the US staying out of the NK Nuclear programs though. NK is slowly starting to reunite with SK, saying they cannot have nuclear power would only break the already fragile relationship with the two countries and probably get them agitated enough to invade SK.
Polotics are a very confusing thing, I do not like the idea of the glorious leader of NK having ICBM capability. But if it means that the two countries will renew long over due relationships then I say go for it. Also keep this in mind, I don't like the US having ICBM capability either(or any other country for that matter). In my oppinion it is way to much power for one person/group of people to handle.
KK, I suggest we make a new topic so we don't dirty up this one.

| im serious about jpoining the army and trying as HARD as POSSIBLE to get into the armoured division like my grandpa in korea. He was doing everything tank related. THis one story he told me, his commander saw a pheasant[ animal not human] and ran after it with a shot gun for food but had to stop because it ran into a mine field. So his commander gets in their tank, M26, and with the mine sweeper thing floors it through the mine field chasing after this bird with a shotgun. I can''t wait but i still have alot of research and learning to do first. | |

| i have my life planned out, man. minutes after i graduate, i will walk into the Marine Corps recruiting office (still wearing my graduation crap, mind you) join up, and go to Basic. after i pass through Basic, i will try to get into STA, Officers School, Jump School, Counter-Terrorism, Counter-Insurgency, or NBC training. once i get out of that (or wash out, but hopefully, that won't happen) and assuming there are no active conflicts, i will apply for embassy duty, probably get shipped out to some third-world country, go to online college while i'm there, serve my tour, then tell my superiors i intend to stay in the Don''t use the Lord''s name in vain.-Beloved Corps. and if there are any active conflicts, i will volunteer (yes, volunteer) to be shipped to the combat zone. and if i die while there, at least i died doing what i've wanted to do since i was three. i will continue on my family's rich history of service in the armed forces. Oohrah! and WW: if i get PTSD and/or wounded, so be it. like with the dying, at least it happened while i was doing something i enjoyed. every time i talk about being a Marine, though, my mom starts getting all sad and asking 'why don't you just become a lawyer or a doctor? they're safer.' she's also the same way when i wear tactical gear. oh well | |

I have no interest in constrution I do plumbing and I don''t like but its good money for now. | |

| Jarhead, I like your enthusiasm but I doubt half those things will be accomplished as you want them to.
Firstly, Recruiters are liars..... Treat them as though they are car salesmen, otherwise you will be scrubbing toilets in Paris Island.
Secondly, you cannot simply work at an embassy and then just magically be transferred to a combat unit when you want to. The military decides when and if you get to transfer.
Thirdly, Combat is not a frekin video game, and once you have walked the tight rope of survival you may realize how important life is..... This is not coming from a combat vet, but from someone who has walked the tightrope more than once in his 16 years of life.
I might suggest you look into the reserves if you plan on getting a college degree, but want to be shipped out when needed or SHTF. Not trying to be mean, but just posting a collection of ideas that I have heard from vets/have experienced in life. Keep up the enthusiasm, if you have the heart you can do anything!

| no, sticks, it's fine, i know you aren't trying to be mean. but, i have already spoken with many combat veterans, read combat reports, and seen combat footage of actual battles. i know war isn't a video game, and if you get shot, there is no 'Restart' button. you are dead, and you always will be. also, my cousin Brad is a Marine with I MEF, 3/1 Marines, and has served four tours in Fallujah. He may be going for a tour in Afghanistan this December. He has seen first hand the carnage and destruction of war, and he has been wounded three times. he is truly a great man, and he is back home now, recruiting. i don't take what you said about recruiters offensively. i know they lie to fill their requirements. i know about boot camp and the mental and physical challenges that come with it. i have done my research; "Watch your language", what else would i have done these past 11 years? and yes, sticks, i know there is a possibility that i won't get accepted into any of those secondary training programs, and i also know i might not get embassy duty or combat duty, but at least i'll still be in the finest fighting force on Earth.

| I have to agree war is much better than sitting at a desk. Also like you said jarhead I would much rather die fighting for my country and for what I believe in over dieing miserable from my uneventful life of typeing away at a cumputer. And to WW also what I wish to do out of the Marines is join a SWAT team or learn how to snipe so I can join a SWAT sniper team. Or join the DEA or do something with the FBI or something in that line. | |
