| My spotter ECM (he moved from Ohio) is not as attentive as i think he should be. How is the best way for us to practice that by ourself | |

| Go to your field, set your spotter up with his spotting scope, a pen, and a notebook and then move with some of your friends move through the foliage at various distances and at certain times. Tell him to write down the time when he saw somebody and who he saw. Repeat this until he catches everybody every time. | |

| also instead of you surveying for targets he must survey. so don't just take independent shots. let your spotter determine where and when to fire plus they have a better view outside of the confines of a scope (i.e. peripheral vision)
so basically you have to give him something to do instead of doing it on your own (surveying)
if not then the purpose of him as a "spotter" is asinine

| I agree with what NN2H. We once shot with a spotter just to try it on Rifle Team, and it was an interesting experience. We would be told what target to aim for and when to fire. When it was time to fire, the spotter would say "fire, fire, fire" and on the third "fire", you'd pull the trigger. The spotter would then tell you what you shot and where. It was an interesting experience, and it worked pretty well. You may wish to try it.
According to manuals I've read, in a sniper/spotter team, the sniper should have an easier job. All the sniper is doing is pulling the trigger. The spotter is acquiring targets, checking windage and elevation, giving the sniper his DOPE, etc. etc.

| Actually, usually the spotter is the more experienced marksman, because he does have the harder job. It sounds a bit crazy, but usually the sniper will have the least experience of the two. The spotter has a very vital job, so its important that he knows what both his partner, and himself are doing. If you are taking independant shots, tell him to map out a good escape route, or watch your flanks for another attack. Make sure to keep him active. | |

| also, if your spotter is calling your shots, he needs to know how your gun shoots (hence, you must practice together). | |
