| Mhm one thing I find interesting with the US Army is the lack of bomb protection found in thier vechiles....From personal experiance I know SA has used these vechiles for decades and thier nothing new...granted SA was involved in many guerrila wars and through that experiance learned never to send soldiers into combat without landmine/iED protection.
i don\'t know...the tech is there the us just seems to be very slow in adapting it.
Mhm this sucks I was looking for a article on some realy nasty mine clearing things used by the marines in Marjah....these things were MASSIVE..I think only 4 exist so far.

http://charter.net/news/read.php?rip_id=%3CD9GBTK4O1%40news.ap.org%3E&ps=1018&sc_cid=homepage_newsDCC_article1 C'mon guys, I'd love to see this become an on-going thread!! I've gotta respect the guy...for years I've been kinda play-planning an assassination of Lords Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony. Had everything down minus the location of his hide. Wasn't really serious about it, but you never know when the day will come when I'll be motivated to act. But someone actually beat me to it...a guy from South Africa went on a one-man expedition to try and kill Kony, but he was arrested as he crossed into Uganda. We just stand by and watch the news stories of millions being killed by bigots and oppressors...this is the kind of guy we need in a world where the government wont act because of the politics involved. But in the end, youre still going to have the extremist followers...even if their leader is killed.

| I believe its called the "moth effect". You make it really bright and shiny...then when the enemy gets close, it zaps them.
But I may be mistaken. | |

| Lol I am asking my parents for one. Just think you get into a accident on the road and the most you will ever worry about is a scratch on the paint job while the semi that hit you has to worry about the whole front end of his truck being smashed in. | |

| NOOOOOOOO!!! Not my baby!! The Corps can't do this...PJ is my child!! Think about whats gonna happen to all those poor, poor, lonely SAWs once this goes through I mean, come on, this M27 thing is just an M4 with a drum! I swear on my grave, I will stop them... Haha, jk this new rifle looks pretty sweet, and it will prove to be more integratable with the current M4/M16 series. But you have to admit, the M249 looks soooo much more bad-ass. | |

| Woah, woah, woah...did it say in that article that the M27 will only use 30rnd mags? That's a baaad idea, the whole point of squad automatic weapons is the ability to lay down suppresive fire so that thier buddies can run across an open area to better cover, or things of such.

| I think the idea is that a couple shots dangerously close to an enemy position provide better cover than a bunch of shots scattered all around. I don't know. I don't like it either. It's like trying to replace the A-10 attack plane with the F-35. It's not so much an upgrade as it is the removal of an old role and replacing it with an entirely different role. I suppose if we didn't create new roles and get rid of old ones, we'd still have swordsmen and pikemen on fire teams. | |

| It'll be a SNAFU until they start putting C-Mags or other high capacity mags on it. Once that happens you're looking at something very much akin to the RPK and L86A2 LSW. Sure it won't go fast anymore but the reloading will be a little easier and quicker under fire. Barrels should last longer to and uh yeah it's supposed to be more accurate. I'm actually liking it now but still, i think it's the wrong move. | |

Gotta agree. I like where they're going with it...but I think it needs more work. There's actually alot of hype about this because people (including military brass) believe this is just a means of getting around the congressional crap needed to get a new primary infantry rifle to replace the M4/M16. Which is a good thing. I'm sure the boys field testing these will speak up if they see a problem with fielding the gun. - - - - - - - WOOOOO!
