I just hope it doesn't cost any lives if it turns out to be a bad idea like we're thinking. I mean really now you can empty a 30 mag from an M4 in what about 4 seconds? And get maybe 4 bursts before you're empty. What kind of support weapon is that?
Anyway yeah i saw that UCAV a few days ago on Yahoo News. Kinda surprised the Brits did this before us though.

Did what before us exactly? According to this vid: It isn't actually a prototype at all, but rather a "technology demonstrator." We've had unmanned stealth aircraft in the works for years. Aircraft that look a LOT like their technology demonstrator.
Fact is, we have pretty much all our bases covered with our current fleet. A 747 capable of shooting down missiles? Check. The world's most advanced generation 5 fighter? Check. The world's fastest military observation aircraft? Check. Plus lots of other neat toys like the B-2, Predator, F-35A, B, and C.
That technology demonstrator looks like it would be a tasty snack for a Sukhoi. And in turn, a Sukhoi would be a tasty snack for an F-22A.

Haha, one big problem the US faced in the Cold War was that the Soviet Union never reveiled thier tech, so we were stumped. Whilst the Soviets never really needed spies, because every day, Reagan would step up on the stage and be like: "Hey guys, check out this new A-10 jet thingy we made, it is totally made to take out your army of T-55s...better watch out!" But your dead-on right. It isn't the unmanned drones, or the remote-controlled robots that win wars... honestly, I never really supported robotic vehicles, they just don't have that level of decision making that humans do. Except for the drones that are made to search and destroy IEDs...I hear those are saving a lotta lives.

Yeah I knew a old Maj. once...he said if the cold war ever actualy went to war he thought the Russians would win...they mighta made crap but they made 100 pieces of crap for every decent thing the US made.
In the end it wasn\'t weapons that won the war but pop, the Russians wanted boom boxes and music instead of weapons and so it goes.

It's great to see Uganda finally getting their guns into the mix. For years they were mocked by the Shebab for being cowards...show em how it's done, Yoweri.

The situation in the Congo, Somalia, and Uganda is really complicated. Many of the combatants are children...
They're taken from their home (most notably, by the "Lord's Resistance Army")...brought to "the bush" and put into camps...where the LRA picks those worthy of fighting. Those who are worthy are forced to kill the unworthy, which desensitizes them to killing.
From there, they are sent into village to kill, rape, and steal everything in sight...with no mercy. There are stories of children coming to a village and ending up killing their own families...thats how brainwashed they become.
One of the reasons governments haven't just "taken out" the insurgency is because they're afraid of the press. It would be a field day...they'd get to label a country as "baby killers" and actually have evidence to back it.
It would be horrible.
In some way, it's best to just let it burn itself out...but keep UN security forces on hand as "referees".

They are still terrorists, and should be treated as such. If they are so brainwashed as to kill their own families, then they can not be turned back.

Have fun with that...the US government and UN have had arrest warrants and bounties on their heads for more than 20 years.
