| Hello, my team is getting a new sniper who is currently unequipped and inexperienced. He has about $300 to buy a rifle, scope, and rounds. Please post links to gear in this price range. He also needs to learn basic tactics so any info or web pages on sniping would be great. | |

| utg l96 is a very good starter for spring otherwise get an aeg dmr ok next a good scope 3-9x40 is excellent training PLAYING THE ROLE AS A SNIPER IS PART OF THE TRAINING BUT you need to practice don't think if you practice 1 week you can be the shitt ok i usually practice on weekend almost every weekend and you get alot more accurate and those sniper reflexes like when you hear a twig snap you turn that way and wait till you hear something again.....he'll get the idea soon | |

| ok now the field we play on is quite large so the range on the gun would need to be at least 300 feet and the fps would need to be 500 or close to it with .20 bbs. what upgrades would he need to get for the guns | |

| Always gets my goat when people do this. The position of sniper is the most low-intensity and highest costing position out there. Your buddy is going to need to spend up to and over $1000 to get it shooting close to what he wants.
Stock sniper rifles are usually really bad unless you get an ARES gas sniper rifle.

| IMO opinion snipers in airsoft are totally useless, its just a waste of a body that could be used to lay down some suppressive fire so your can run from point A to point B.
As drummer stated, the role of sniper is an expensive one and over glorified one. No stock sniper rifle will get you far especially with a spending limit of $300. Scope is a waste of time, also tunnel vision is a pain.
You are better off using the $40-60 you would spend on a scope and get an even better sniper rifle. $300 can get you a good sniper rifle, you just need to dedicate all $300 to that one rifle, and not to the scopes, bb's etc.
Also if you plan to snipe with .20s, don't. You won't be able to hit something. At the very least .28s seeing how your field probably has a MED for sniper rifles, your .20s will just fly everywhere trying to make that far shot.

And you can't use it anywhere so whats the point. Back to main topic..for 300 your buddy is better of buying a M14, SL8, G36 type AEG and playing as a DMR (Marksman) In airsoft you really don't need a a scope their only use is to see where the BB lands. Another thing to consider is that most AEG's will shoot just as far as a bolt action airsoft gun and they can get alot more downrange. And in reality your snipers main role will be a scout...unless he is extremly good at concealment and movement he will end up hating airsoft because of this experience. As for BB's .20 will get you nowere..your going to want to shoot 500fps with .25's (Limit on most fields) and using .30-.43 BB's

M14, thats all you need to hear. They have super long barrels, so they are incredibly accurate even without a TBB

Check out the G&G series of DMR's... Another option is the WR-ST "RCKT"... Proved itself in the famed "Battle of Malm Art". Favorite weapon of the "Ne-Wbies" tribe.

Lawl at epicness And I do have my facts straight...most major fields will not allow AEG's over 450fps and bolt over 600. Im sure your fields also have the rules but don't chrono or they make a exception for semi auto like the TM PSG-1 And like they said M14's are good all around..kinda boring tho..other good ones to consider are CA-s G36's and if you want to go a bit over budget the TM PSG-1 is nice..it starts at 530 tho and it needs upgrades...

| Stray away from Classic Army M14s, a buddy has one and the trigger mech is so faulty that he has to hold it on with a rubber band. | |
