| Personally i'd go with Mk16 over the Mk17. The only big difference that i'm aware of between the two in airsoft are the mags. Which again personally, i like the 5.56 version since it's a little easier to find mag pouches and there's a greater chance of you being able to share mags with M16 and M4 users if you have to.
As for brands i wouldn't go cheap, VFC or G&G would be your best options if you're looking to get a SCAR. | |

| Really the only difference besides manufacture quality between brands is magazines. That said, SCAR-L uses STANAG (M16) magazines so they would be a lot cheaper and easier to find than SCAR-H mags. | |
